It is safe to say that one of the most popular teenage TV shows of our time is Vampire Diaries. Season 7 (release date, description of the first few episodes and everything connected with it) intrigued fans of the vampire saga long before its release. Fans of the series expected the premiere of new episodes like never before. Let's try to figure out what this is connected with, and should we expect pleasant surprises from the filmmakers?
7th season: preparation for filming
It is impossible to describe how expected the series “Vampire Diaries” was in 2015: season 7, the description and plot of the film excited the audience long before the premiere of the new series. This is because after the 6th season the project left the lead singer - Nina Dobrev, who for many years played Elena Gilbert.
Viewers are already accustomed to the fact that for all 6 seasons the plot revolves around Elena's love triangle and two vampire brothers Salvatore. But for 133 episodes, this topic is fed up with even the most avid fans of the series. Nina Dobrev, apparently, understood that she was not expecting anything more interesting in this project, and in 2014 announced that she was leaving him. On the one hand, fans of the vampire saga were shocked, and on the other hand, they were intrigued, because the producers made a bold decision to extend the series for another season - that means they had some kind of trump card in their sleeve.
On October 8, 2015, the first episode of the seventh season premiered, which was watched by 1.38 million viewers. For comparison: 4 million watched the pilot series of the project. But by the sixth season, only the “most persistent” screens remained, so the rating did not exceed 1.8 million viewers. It turns out that with the departure of Nina Dobrev, the situation has not changed much.
Cast changes
Her departure from the seventh season of the series, Nina Dobrev explained that she wants to "develop" and "move on." However, the "yellow" publications are more inclined to the fact that the actress was unbearable to work on the same set with Ian Somerhalder: the fact is that the actors met for a long time, but more recently, Ian did not just leave for another woman, but even made her an offer. After this "significant" event, Dobrev just announced her departure from the project.
It seemed that no one would want to watch the series without Nina Dobrev, but the fans of the serial film again returned to the screens purely out of curiosity: what else can you “squeeze” out of this
vampire story if you remove the main romantic component on which the Vampire Diaries rested? Season 7, the description of which so excited the fans, still managed to catch their attention. The producers breathed a sigh of relief: each series steadily gathers an audience of 1.5-1.8 million near the screens.
After Nina left the "Diaries", conditionally the main characters became Stefan performed by Paul Wesley and Caroline played by Candice Accola. In the new season, we will not see either Jeremy Gilbert (Stephen McQueen), nor Tyler Lockwood (Michael Trevino), nor Joe Laughlin (Jodie O'Keefe). Although some of them will appear in the frame for just a couple of minutes.

And in the frame again between the main characters a difficult relationship develops. It seemed that in The Vampire Diaries everyone had already “met” each other more than once, but the scriptwriters continued to shock the audience: Stefan, it turns out, is passionately in love with his girlfriend Caroline, Caroline is bearing Alaric’s children, and Bonnie suddenly becomes Enzo’s mistress. In short, Santa Barbara is resting. The creators of the project and their “hackneyed” trick do not shun: to resurrect, when they need it, for the rating of long-dead heroes. In the new season, we again see a short-term return to the screens of Alaric's lover - Joe (however, she is still “killed" anyway) - and even Tyler Lockwood, who appears in the frame for a couple of minutes.

At the end of the sixth season, most of the main characters die. This is due to the increased interest in the film "The Vampire Diaries" (season 7). The description of the series makes it clear that Elena Gilbert really will no longer appear in the project. Stefan and Caroline literally in the very first episodes of the film begin an affair. Damon is completely immersed in the problems of his friends. Alaric is trying to resurrect his dead wife. But Bonnie and Mat are only thinking about how to rid Mystic Falls of the bloodthirsty heretics. This is how the plot of the series “The Vampire Diaries” (season 7) develops. The description of the subsequent episodes is not yet known, since the series is shown in doses: 1 episode in two weeks. By December 2015, only 9 episodes premiered.

The Vampire Diaries (Season 7), the description of which still excites individual viewers, is still afloat. But if 1.38 million viewers wanted to watch the first episode, then the seventh episode broke all the negative records - only 1.10 million viewers became interested in it. If the rating continues to fall, then The CW Television Network will finish this story in May 2016 and will begin to look for other stories that might interest the viewer.
