The American comedy The Internship, shot by Sean Levy in 2013, is worth watching at least to admire from the inside the work of the legendary Google, which provided the creators with the opportunity to shoot and demonstrate all their San Francisco possessions. In the comedy film “Shots” (2013), the actors W. Won and O. Wilson again become screen partners.
The creators of the picture
A comedy project that outlines the story of two middle-aged friends eager to succeed, received neutral reviews from film critics and an IMDb rating of 6.30. The film “Personnel” (2013) was directed by director Sean Levy, who knows how to be witty and sentimental. He confirmed this fact in the works "Living Steel" and "Night at the Museum."
Vince Vaughn, inspired by the success of “Formulas of Love for Prisoners of Marriage” and “American Divorce,” decided to increase momentum and realize himself as a co-author of the script of films in which he plays the main roles. In “Frames”, Jared Stern, who had previously worked on Druzhinniki and Volta, helped him write the script. Since Vince Vaughn and Sean Levy also acted as producers of the film “Personnel” (2013), actors who performed secondary roles were selected during the casting by them.
Synopsis
The film “Shots” (2013), whose actors and roles are really well matched by each other's types, tells the story of “two prehistoric dinosaurs”, men who found themselves overboard the current industry. The main characters Billy (W. Won) and Nick (O. Wilson) during their careers specialized in the sale of watches, but fell under the reduction. Realizing that they are hopelessly behind the times, they, trying to catch up, decide to go through a test contest at Google. The characters find themselves in a world dominated by young geeks who are competent in computers.
Nick and Billy have no idea about modern programming technologies, do not even know how to use all the features of a smartphone. Naturally, both heroes find themselves in a group of outsiders, but having shown the ability to work with people in a well-coordinated team, they win the competition and get the desired work. Here such a simple story was presented to the audience by actors invited to the shooting of the film “Personnel” (2013).
Typical Hollywood Mainstream
Unfortunately, the amazing world, in which the genius of the programmer is adjacent to belated infantilism, did not particularly inspire critics. Although the main actors of the film "Shots", playing forty-year-old men, they were impressed. According to the reviewers' verdict, comedy is intriguing for only 15 minutes, and after that is pretty predictable. The audience liked the story that all ages are submissive to success, and each generation has its own advantages. The story contains a parallel developing romantic line in which Nick is trying to establish a relationship with 30-year-old Dana Pierce (actress Rose Byrne). Despite the fact that the attempt to get close to the “service romance” does not hold out, the idea looks at least nice.
Generational conflict
The scheme for constructing the plot of the picture is stereotyped: two miserable miserables, having fallen into a new environment, bypassing rivals, are gaining success. But the conditions in which this happens are non-standard. The most comic situations arise when the actors of the film “Personnel” (2013), reincarnated as central characters, try not only to understand the world of advanced computer technology, but also to create an authoring application. At the same time, the creators unobtrusively demonstrate the advantages of the work of Google, by the way, this comedy does not spoil at all, but acts as a harmonious decoration for the unfolding generational conflict.
Leading actors
In 2005, the actors Wilson and Vaughn were screen partners in the movie "Uninvited Guests", which, surprisingly, did not go unnoticed, but acquired the status of this manual for bachelors concerned about the lack of female attention. After eight years, they reunited, but already in the IT film "Personnel". The actors, whose photos adorn the comedy's poster, again composed a harmonious creative tandem.
American actor Vince Vaughn, who realized himself as a screenwriter and producer, made his debut in cinema in the 80s. Initially, he played minor roles in television series. The real popularity came to him after the picture "Party People", after the actor fixed the result, starring in "Jurassic Park - 2". Since then, he has been one of Hollywood 's sought-after comedians. Even more popular Vince brought participation in the creation of the television movie "True Detective."
American film actor Owen Wilson has also acted many times as producer and screenwriter for many films. His project, a script for the Tenenbaum Family, was even nominated for a BAFTA and an Oscar. Wilson is widely known for his performing and screenwriting films in the films Rushmore Academy, Meet the Parents, Shanghai Noon, Marley and Me, Grand Budapest Hotel, and Museum Night.
Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson in "Frames", harmoniously complementing each other, draw out their charisma depressing scenario flaws, which, unfortunately, are often found in the narrative.
By the way, director Sean Levy appeared in the episodic image of a disgruntled employee of the corporation, and Sergey Brin, the founder of Google, flashed twice in a comedy in a cameo.
One-minute commercial
Despite the tangible presence of inter-actor "chemistry" between Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn, the film "Frames" was recognized as a passing comedy project, designed for the mass audience. The commercial helped attract thousands of people to cinemas. Of course, the tape was not awarded high cinematic awards, but the viewer fell in love.
