Therapeutic department of the hospital and clinic

The word "therapy" has Greek origins and in translation means "healing" or "treatment". Also, in the modern healthcare structure of many countries, this concept applies only to the adult population, that is, to adult citizens, and medical care itself consists in conservative management of patients until complete recovery or before or after transfer to surgical methods. And therefore, the therapeutic department is available in any multidisciplinary medical and preventive institution, whether it is a hospital or clinic. Now consider the concept in more detail.

What hospitals are made of

therapeutic department of the hospital
In general, any hospital has in its structure an administrative and economic building, archive, emergency room, auxiliary diagnostic rooms (ultrasound, X-ray room, endoscopic methods) and, in fact, a specialized medical wing (surgical and therapeutic department). Maternity facilities (maternity hospitals, perinatal centers) are located separately. However, if it is a district feldsher’s center or a small hospital, then there is always a surgical, therapeutic and pediatric ward. In other words, patients with many nosological units are located and served together.

The structure of the therapeutic profile

hospital therapeutic department

If this is a multidisciplinary medical institution with a large territory, then the therapeutic department of the hospital is divided into components. For example, it can be rheumatological, endocrinological, gastroenterological, neurological, pulmonary, cardiology departments and many others. Thus, patients with diseases of different directions are located and served separately. This is convenient both for the administration and staff, and for the patients themselves, since it is much easier to distribute auxiliary equipment, drugs, provide nutrition and patient care. So, for example, in the therapeutic department of the hospital there is no need to supply instruments for internal interventions and such a range of disinfectants as in the surgical one, where sterility is the main condition for operations.

In outpatient clinics

therapeutic department of the clinic
As for polyclinics, a lot of specialists of various fields work in city institutions, which also requires appropriate differentiation into departments and buildings, since patients with infectious diseases come here daily. Naturally, it is necessary to minimize their contact with children and pregnant women. That is why the therapeutic department of the clinic is also usually located in a separate wing according to the address areas. It should also be noted that patients with various pathologies, including infectious diseases, turn to family doctors, and therefore, in each office of the department, there must be a quartz lamp for periodic treatment of the room.

More about therapy

This field of medicine studies “internal diseases” (that is, all nosological units affecting the human organs): their etiology, pathogenetic options, clinical options, diagnostic, treatment and prevention regimens. The therapeutic department always works together with the laboratories and research structures of the hospital (endoscopic, visual, radiation), because not only the correct result of the search for a diagnosis is necessary, but also the quality and effectiveness of treatment measures. The latter concept includes exclusively conservative schemes, that is, drugs, physical (UHF, electrophoresis, laser, magnetotherapy, etc.) and biological methods (immunotherapy).

therapeutic department

Structure and meaning

Each therapeutic department has a certain number of beds, united in personal, double, triple and more wards, contains cabinets for doctors, nurses, separately - housewives with equipment, a kitchen, a dining room, and sanitary units. Staying in a hospital, depending on the severity of the patient's condition, can be around the clock or day. In the latter case, this applies to patients who are discharged, who apply before the end of the course of treatment for certain medical procedures that they cannot provide in outpatient clinics at the place of residence. As part of the healthcare system, therapeutic patients referred from clinics through a specialized portal are entitled to free inpatient treatment with a full diagnostic examination. The exception is medicines and procedures that are not in the hospital, or if patients wish to receive additional treatment, such as massage. At the end of the course, for certain indications, referral to preventive measures in sanatoriums and dispensaries is possible.
