Protein diet for weight loss: the most common misconceptions

Protein diet for weight loss every day is becoming more popular. Indeed, adhering to such a power system, it is easy to part with excess weight, but it also has significant disadvantages, which few people know about. Let's look at the most common misconceptions regarding a protein diet.

Many people believe that carbohydrates are the culprits of the appearance of excess weight. Adherents of this idea include the well-known Dr. Atkins and the creator of the Kremlin diet. Of course, in such a statement there is a certain amount of truth. For example, it cannot be denied that part of the carbohydrates contained in a number of products, such as flour, processed cereals, etc., contribute to weight gain. But do not forget that in addition to "harmful", there are also useful carbohydrates, such as pectin and polysaccharides. Without them, our body cannot exist at all. Carbohydrates are a source of muscle tissue formation; without them, proper protein metabolism and hormone synthesis are impossible. Just imagine what harm the lack of such useful substances in the diet will cause.

The second incorrect statement is that a protein diet for weight loss works wonders, and absolutely everyone can lose weight while sitting on it. This is not at all true. Let's look at its aspects in more detail.

If vegetables, fruits, flour and sweets are excluded from the diet, the calorie content of the daily diet will decrease significantly, which will cause a sharp weight loss. But there may be another outcome. The diet allows an unlimited number of meat and fish products, including all types of sausages and sausages, which can freely fill the lack of calories. But it is worth replacing some products in excess with others - and the weight will remain in the same place. It should be noted that in sausages, protein is only 9%, but fat is 20-45%, therefore, such products are more fat than protein.

The third myth of the protein diet - immediately after the desired weight loss, you can return to the usual diet. So, be aware that, in principle, no nutritional system, including a protein diet for weight loss, leads to this outcome. A return to the usual menu means a return to the old way of life and, accordingly, to a new gain in weight. That is, soon the lost kilograms will appear again. It is the third error that is most often the cause of a zero result in losing weight. Someone is gaining weight in a couple of months after the diet, some can last up to a year. Therefore, after a protein diet, you need to diversify the menu with various vegetables and fruits.

The last misconception - a protein diet for weight loss can become a lifestyle, as it can be adhered to for an unlimited time. The statement is erroneous. Lack of carbohydrates in the body for a long time can lead to serious health problems and even chronic diseases. In addition to reducing performance and immunity, prolonged use of only protein can cause kidney stones, liver dysfunction, and even the development of various neoplasms.

Of course, a protein diet for weight loss (reviews confirm this) is quite effective. And we do not urge to abandon it! But you should not become fanatical adherents of protein nutrition when using protein food as a source of weight loss - that's all. The rejection of flour and sweets, which contain so-called harmful carbohydrates that contribute to the appearance of extra pounds, will be very effective. However, do not forget about the necessary carbohydrates that are present, for example, in vegetables, and without them the proper functioning of the body is impossible. Although the desire to lose weight is sometimes very great, but still do not forget about your health.
