Currently, in educational institutions an important place is given to how patriotic education of schoolchildren is carried out. This activity is a deliberate system of methods of influencing a person in order to form an active life position of a patriotic citizen of his homeland. Such work should be carried out on the basis of a qualitatively new idea of education, which takes into account domestic traditions, national and regional characteristics and the available pedagogical experience.
In schools and other educational institutions, programs of electives, circles are introduced, the main purpose of which is the patriotic education of children. Here, the work of the teacher will be aimed at developing students' civic and social responsibility. In addition, schoolchildren are educated on the basis of materials on local history (the lives of famous compatriots, history and traditions).
In order to raise a citizen of a new generation, who is sensitive to his homeland, it is worthwhile to make every effort to practically all school teachers. This should be the work of not only the class teacher or teacher leading an elective in this area, but also other employees involved in the educational process. So, it is periodically recommended to carry out events bearing the ideas of citizenship and patriotism. For example, it can be a class hour “Memory Line” or similar activities. The works of young authors of patriotic themes can be published in the school newspaper. It is recommended that children set specific research goals to study the history of their homeland, including the region in which they live. Carrying out such work, students not only learn to collect information, but also begin to realize its value, get acquainted with many facts that help to be proud of their country, as well as the area where they live.
Some educational institutions open at their base clubs for students whose goal is the patriotic education of students. Here, children can engage in extracurricular activities in areas such as the organization of public events, the preservation and replenishment of the museum’s exhibits in the school, and the organization of excursions there. Such work can be carried out both by class teachers and teachers specializing in further education, according to a separately drawn up program. In this case, a close relationship with similar organizations (the city museum, the council of veterans, etc.) is necessary.
Patriotic education of schoolchildren should be systematic, carried out regularly. For this, forms such as exhibitions of children's works on specific topics related to the homeland, drawings of schoolchildren, meetings of the children's asset, round tables and others are also used.
An integrated approach to this activity is another rather important detail. In the process of educating schoolchildren, all those involved in the educational process should participate. These are not only teachers, but also librarians, school museum employees , head teacher for educational work, counselor, social teacher, etc. Each of them has their own methods of influencing children, as well as their own forms of work. For example, school librarians can arrange an exhibition of books for students in which publications on a given topic will be selected.
It should be noted that the patriotic education of schoolchildren is an important job in an educational institution. After all, the future of the country depends on how much the young generation will be attached to their homeland, how much it will value and love it.
