Pedagogical communication means contact between the teacher and the student body. Correct, professional communication helps the teacher organize trusting relationships with students, as well as manage communication processes between children.
It should be noted right away that pedagogical communication is a multifaceted process, during which communication, understanding and interaction between the teacher and students are established and gradually developed.
Without such skills, the teacher can hardly count on the trust of the children’s team, as well as on understanding and interest in the subject. That is why pedagogical communication at all times was considered one of the most important aspects of pedagogy. Only in this way can interaction and mutual understanding be achieved.
It is believed that only in contact with adults can a child properly develop and absorb social and historical experience. But the limited communication or lack thereof leads to a slowdown and impoverishment of the development of children.
Features of pedagogical communication: structure and conditions of effectiveness
In pedagogy, it is customary to single out the structure of correct, full-fledged communication. It consists of the following components:
- The communicative part involves the full exchange of information between the teacher and the student.
- The interactive part of communication is a certain general strategy for building interactions, during which team members learn to cooperate, cooperate and compete with each other.
- The perceptual component denotes the processes of study, analysis and perception of other subjects of communication.
A. Bodaev first formulated the conditions for the effectiveness of pedagogical communication. It is believed that communication between a teacher and students is effective if it provides a quick and complete assimilation of the necessary skills. In addition, in this process, the child must learn to evaluate not only himself, but also other people.
Pedagogical communication must necessarily be accompanied by proper education. On the other hand, interpersonal contacts can be maximally effective only if the right communication is carried out in all areas of the child’s life. This means that the necessary contacts must take place not only in the educational institution, but also between family members.
Requirements and technology of pedagogical communication
An experienced specialist should create the necessary relaxed atmosphere during class. There is also the concept of “pedagogical intuition”. This quality should be developed in every teacher. After all, it allows you to sensitively perceive the atmosphere in the team, quickly determine the change in the mood of students, find the right approach even to the most problematic children.
It is also worth noting that communication should not be a unidirectional flow of information from a teacher to a team. The teacher should specifically communicate with the children, carefully listen to their assumptions. Indeed, it is such a technology that makes it possible to develop a child’s ability to think independently, to have his own opinion and not be afraid to uphold it.
The teacher must understand that working with the children's team also implies the presence of conflicts. Therefore, the teacher must have knowledge in child psychology, which will make it possible to timely notice and correctly resolve any misunderstandings, eliminate hostility, and instill respect for each other.
In modern pedagogy, it is customary to distinguish two main communication styles:
- Promising interaction allows the teacher to communicate with children during joint work or creative activity, to build friendships.
- Unpromising forms. This may include the so-called communication-intimidation.
Although the relationship between teacher and student should be friendly and trusting, it is worth maintaining a certain distance. The teacher should be an authoritative person for the child.
