He is also known for voice acting of cartoons. The actor died on April 22, 2017 in Warsaw. A whole era has gone with him.

The actor’s place of birth is covered in mystery. He was born (according to official data) on January 1, 1927. The city in which he was born, according to the metric, is the current Ukrainian city of Lviv. However, in one of the interviews, the actor said that in fact he is a year older. And Vitold Pyrkosh was born in the city of Krasnostava (now - the territory of Poland). But in 1927 the family moved to Lviv, and the grandmother registered the child with the local authorities a year later, wishing that he did not join the army at an early age. In fact, he was born on December 24, 1926.

The early years, the beginning of a career

At school, young talent did not even dream of becoming an actor. According to his own recollections, the boy studied not very well. As a teenager, he could not choose a profession. He tried to enter different lyceums - reclamation, hotel management, trade ... But it was at the acting school that he was accepted the first time. And that was fate.

Vitold Pyrkos graduated from the State Higher School of Acting in Cracow. Ludwig Solsky in 1954. In the same year he made his first debut on the stage of the theater named after Stefan Zheromsky in the city of Kielce. He played in the play by Vladimir Pezhinsky "Frivolous Sister." But he did not like the city, he felt there as in a province.

With the help of the director Zbyshek Tsibulsky, Vitold went to Krakow, then to Warsaw. Two years later, the actor appeared on the wide screen, in the film “Shadow” by Jerzy Kavalerovich. Then came the sensational "Manuscript Found in Zaragoza." In 1968, he plays the auctioneer in the film adaptation of Boleslav Prus’s novel "The Doll". In the Soviet Union he was recognized and remembered for the series “Four Tankers and a Dog,” in which Vitold got the role of Corporal Franek Vihura. The scene and the stage is the actor’s second love after filming a movie. Vitold Pyrkosh devoted a lot of effort and a lot of time to playing at the theater. His most famous role is Latka. We are talking about a loan shark from Life Imprisonment, the famous work of Alexander Fredro. Popularity was brought to the actor and George from the drama “About Mice and Men,” directed by John Steinbeck. Not to mention Prince Calafe from Carlo Gozzi, the favorite Italian childhood comedy Princess Turandot. This role generally put Witold out of competition.

The actor took an active part in the creation of the theater on Radio Poland. He played on most stages of his country. Witold was the creator and director of the popular Dreptak cabaret theater in Poland. In Russian, this ironic name can be translated as "stomp."

Literally in every role Vitold Pyrkosh, whose photo was recognized in many countries, including the USSR, was brilliant. He embodied humor, kindness and elegance. The role of law enforcement officers, he liked to alternate with the roles of criminals. The actor’s game was organic, filled with life experience, even if he had to incarnate as a rogue and drunkards, such as Jozef Balzerek in the TV series “Alternatives 4” (directed by Stanislav Bareya).

But he loved to show off in the role of the military. However, he was often called the "king of TV shows." Actually, he was one of them, starting with the Four Tankers and a Dog. Witold Pirkosz is a Polish actor, whom his native country noted as an honored cultural figure, and also awarded him the title of Knight of the Order of the Golden Cross. When in 2009 he was awarded the Gloria Artis medal, the master admitted that he most appreciates his roles in the series. He twice received the prestigious Television Camera Award - in the nomination "Best Actor" and for his services to the development of cinema. But at the same time, Vitold for some reason could not stand watching films with his participation. People who knew him said that it was impossible to sit next to him in front of the TV, he constantly criticized himself. But he did not hide the fact that he liked his own popularity.

Vitold Pyrkosh was married twice and had three children. His first wife was called Eve. With her, he had a son, Paul. In 1964, he registered a marriage with another woman - Christina. He lived with her until his death and was happy. They had two daughters, Vitolda and Katarzyna. Although he made many acquaintances and was known as a good friend, he had few bosom friends . Vitold's main quality was a sense of humor, irony, sometimes even somewhat painful for those around him. If he didn’t love anyone, he did not consider it necessary to hide it. The actor became an honorary citizen of the Polish town of Pyzdry. He died at the age of ninety in Warsaw. The urn with its ashes rests in a local cemetery. The death of Vitold Pyrkosh was a tragedy not only for many of his fans, but also for a whole generation of people in different countries who were in love with films with his participation.
