What are aerosol generators and what are they?

Aerosol generator - a device spraying the mixture a short distance in front of you. Depending on the composition in it, it performs different functions. For example, fire fighting or cooling and air conditioning.

What types of aerosol generators are there?

Types of Generators

They can be divided into two types:

  • mechanical;
  • thermomechanical.

Mechanical - spray aerosol consisting of small mixed particles. These generators can also be divided into subgroups. They are:

  1. Pneumatic In them, the speed of the jet depends on the pressure force of the gas supplied to it.
  2. Disk. In such devices, a centrifuge is installed. Spraying occurs due to centrifugal force, namely the jet is fed to a rapidly rotating disk. After that, it is ejected beyond the limits of the generator. The size of the jet depends on the speed of rotation of the centrifuge.
  3. Ultrasonic In such generators, aerosol supply is due to high sound vibrations. They cannot be heard by human ears. Ultrasound changes the state of magnetization of bodies, because of which its volume changes. Under this action, spraying occurs.

There is also a second type of generator - thermomechanical. These devices create mixtures formed by condensation, as well as mechanical compositions. They are produced by crushing a liquid forming an aerosol. Then the composition is fed into the compartment where the combustion of the fuel mixture occurs. After these vapors enter the atmosphere, condensation occurs and they turn into aerosol.

Hot Mist Generator

What industries are used in?

Due to the convenience of this method, aerosol generators are used in many industries, for example, in the following:

  1. Firefighting. A special mixture is able to quickly spread throughout the room and remove the flame in a short period of time.
  2. Agriculture. The aerosol generator is able to spray the mixture over a large area in a short time, as well as irrigate. Also, the device is used to disinfect and kill pests.
  3. Air conditioning. These generators use a special mixture that creates a certain temperature. There are also air disinfecting compounds.

Two types can be distinguished from aerosol generators - fire extinguishing and disinfection generators. The principle of their operation will be described below.

Fire generator

Aerosols in fires

Aerosol fire extinguishing generator is widely used in various types of production. But not in all places it is allowed to install such devices. Do not use aerosols for fire safety:

  1. In rooms from which people cannot be evacuated before spraying the mixture. Inhalation of aerosol particles can adversely affect human health, even death.
  2. In rooms where there are a large number of people (60 or more). As a rule, these are catering places and shops.
  3. In rooms where the degree and level of fire resistance is below the mark of three points.

Where such a mixture is located, a sign must be installed to inform about this.

For the first time, the principle of operation of an aerosol generator was described in 1820 by Shumlyansky. He used to extinguish a fire composition, which included gunpowder, water and clay. In 1845, Ken (according to some sources - Kyun) proposed the use of mixtures in boxes, which included saltpeter and coal. These containers had to be thrown into the epicenter of the fire and the door closed tightly. At that time there were a lot of leaky rooms, which is why aerosols were considered ineffective and refused to use them.

There is a minus - the generators do not provide complete fire extinguishing.

Condition - the composition of the mixture should not be:

  • fibrous, loose, porous and other combustible materials, prone to spontaneous combustion and decay inside the layer of matter;
  • metal powders;
  • chemicals and their mixtures, polymeric materials that can smolder and burn without air;
  • metal hydrides and pyrophoric substances.

Agricultural generator

Farm generator

The aerosol disinfection generator is widely used for processing different plantations. The device is convenient to install, easy to refuel, and it performs work faster. Also provides uniform distribution and minimal chemical fluid costs.

Generators can be used to kill pests, which is very useful in hot periods. It sprays a poisonous fog or cloud consisting of pesticides suspended in the air. According to the norms, the fluid flow rate in the device should be 1-5 liters / hectare.

Such substances can also be obtained by decay. For example, using smoke bombs or tablets that are saturated with a toxic substance. But this method comes out much more expensive.

Are all the generators big?

Mobile generator

All types of devices listed above have very low mobility. Some of them are generally installed permanently; dismantling is required for their transfer.

The problem is solved by the Pro Ulv aerosol generator, it has an extremely low volume of working fluid, but high mobility. It can be held with one hand, which in some situations speeds up and simplifies the pollination process. These generators produce only cold fog. This can be called their disadvantage.

What is cold and hot fog?

Consider the scope of various types of spraying.

Cold fog generators can be used to kill insects, as well as for medical purposes. With such a mobile device, it is much easier to disinfect rooms in hospitals or private homes.

Hot mist aerosol generators are a more reliable insect killer. These devices produce a thick, hot suspension, which instantly performs its task. As already described at the beginning of the article, these generators use combustion chambers of the fuel mixture, which includes toxic substance. When these vapors enter the atmosphere, condensation occurs and the vapor is converted into toxic fog.
