Gudgeon is a small but wise fish

Gudgeon fish
Gudgeon is a fish that has gained recognition mainly as baitfish for catching other, larger inhabitants of water bodies. In this role, he justifies himself, since it is sufficiently tenacious.

It has a small length - no more than twenty-five centimeters, a cylindrical body and two antennae in the corners of the mouth.

In our country, the most common common gudgeon is a fish that lives in clear water in Siberia and the North Baltic, as well as in the fast rivers of the Far East and the Black Sea basin. It is kept in small flocks, often adjacent to minnow or char. Unlike many, the age principle does not work here: large individuals swim with young people.

Gudgeon is a fish that prefers sandy or pebble soils. He clearly loves cold, clean water, although falling into mild conditions, he takes root there, but he becomes much smaller in size.

The search for this fish is not difficult. Flocks of minnows are clearly visible at the bottom, as they never go below two meters. In addition, they can be easily seen in streams and rivers, where they move with quick shadows between the bottom shelters.

Gudgeon fishing takes place year-round. However, it becomes the most common prey in the winter. This is explained by the fact that the gudgeon is a fish that prefers a favorable oxygen environment and for this reason constantly swims up to the surface.

In addition, this fish is a daytime representative of the underwater world, not hooked at night. The best nibble is recorded in the mornings and noon.

The gudgeon is most often caught in pieces of a small red worm, although the fish is also well caught in bloodworms, crumpled bread and small maggot.

In extreme heat, when most of the inhabitants of the fish world are reluctant to feed, a side fishing rod equipped with a mormyshka helps out, and it must be of a dark color - black or brown.

When fishing with a fishing rod, it is very important to mask the sting on the hook well: then the "wise" representative of the underwater kingdom will regularly take the bait.

Gudgeon is a fish whose fishing does not require a bait. After all, even a small amount of feed bloodworms can feed a whole flock, which is not included in the plans of anglers.

Many people choose a fishing rod for fishing a gudgeon. Of course, it can be caught both on the wire variety and on the donka, the main thing in choosing gear is its small sensitivity. Hooks are selected in the fourth or fifth sizes, and the cross-section of the fishing line is up to 0.2 millimeters. The length of the rod should be at least five meters, because sometimes the fish does not swim to the shore, but hides from the current behind the bottom stones at the bottom.

Catching a gudgeon in the winter consists of lowering the mormysks to the bottom and periodically stirring it. The best place for this is considered to be areas near the watersheds.

Catching this fish is a fairly simple process that does not require special skills from the angler. When the float begins to sink, you just need to cut in the opposite direction from its movement.

It is irrelevant when fishing for gudgeon and fighting, although the extraction of this fish from the water has certain nuances: you need to remove it carefully, without sudden movements. Due to the softness of its labrum, small prey may break and float away.

Gudgeon is a fish that is excellently caught after rain, especially after rain. At this time, his appetite increases sharply.
