A small nondescript insect can bring big problems. Ticks await a person not only in the forest. There is a great chance of attacking them in a suburban area, in squares and parks, and even in your yard. In order not to make mistakes, it is important to know how to remove a tick from a person.
As you know, ticks attack from below. Their element is green grass, foliage of small bushes. In this case, the insect jumps very well. The tick reacts to movement and tries to jump as high as possible. Clinging to clothes, the bloodsucker crawls until it selects a suitable place.
People with sensitive skin often notice a tick before it has time to dig. His skin movements resemble tickling. A tick bite is painless, but very dangerous. The longer the parasite is on your body, the more serious the consequences can be. Knowing how to remove a tick from a person may be useful to you personally or to people who have turned to you for help. If you are camping, in the country, in the forest, of course, you will need to remove the insect yourself.
How to remove a tick from a person: stages
- Forget once and for all about myths about sunflower oil, gasoline, nail polish, vinegar and alcohol. Before removing the tick, it is not necessary to water and smear it. Your hopes that he will die will be justified, but he will spill all his saliva (possibly infected) into the blood.
- The best tool is a thread or tweezers. When using them, it is important not to crush the tick. The effect will be the same as in the previous paragraph.
- Take the thread, wrap it several times around its body or grab the insect with tweezers as close to the head as possible, pull it towards you with gentle movements. You can rotate it around its axis, then it is more likely that the tick will be removed entirely.
- Do not touch the insect with your bare hands. If the reception with the thread did not work, you can take a piece of gauze or bandage, fold it several times, grab the body of the tick and also gently pull it out, turning (screwing) it slightly clockwise.
- Treat the wound with iodine or alcohol.
- Do not throw away the bloodsucker. It will be needed for further examination. Clean in any dish with a tight-fitting lid.
- Get an immunoglobulin shot at the nearest medical facility as soon as possible.

If you already imagine how to remove a tick from a person before going to a medical center, then it will be useful to know about the symptoms after a bite. Along with saliva entering the bloodstream, many infections can be transmitted, the most dangerous of which are Lyme disease and
tick-borne encephalitis. The most dangerous disease (viral encephalitis) manifests itself in one to two weeks after infection. Symptoms after a tick bite in a person can be different. This may be an increase in temperature, and vomiting.
What are the symptoms of a tick bite if it is infected with encephalitis:
- high temperature - 39-40 degrees;
- a sharp deterioration in well-being;
- weakness in the arms and legs;
- nausea and vomiting;
- headaches, blurred consciousness;
- redness and loss of skin sensitivity (full or partial), especially in the upper body.
These symptoms do not always indicate infection with tick-borne encephalitis, but they require prompt medical attention. Therefore, the faster you seek help at the hospital, the greater the chance of recovery.
