Take, for example, the well-known dispute - the front door or the porch, the curb or curb, the loaf or loaf, etc. The eternal struggle of two cultures, which has been going on for many, many years. That's the unusual word trempel - this is the reason for the ongoing disputes in the network. Do you know what it is? It turns out that this thing is in every house and is familiar to us from early childhood! And for certain you had to hear this word from grandmothers.
What is trempel? Origin of the word
According to one version, the word "trempel" is by no means borrowed. In pre-revolutionary times, one successful German entrepreneur lived in Kharkov, who had his own clothing factory. His last name was Trempel. He used to be one step ahead of the competition and tried to somehow stand out from other manufacturers.
It was Trempel who first came up with the use of some wooden devices to decorate his clothes. And on the shoulders was embossed - his last name. And this unusual name stuck. And such clothes were sold, by the way, together with a coat hanger. In Kharkov, Donetsk, Lugansk or Odessa, bewilderment is still puzzling if you call the trempel a hanger, and people who do not know this term are considered visitors.
A bit of hanger history
But there is an alternative version, according to which the invention of the hanger belongs to a completely different person. True and the name of the device is different. You will be surprised, but it turns out that a patent for the first semblance of a hanger was obtained back in 1869 by O.A. Norton. At that time, the invention was called a crochet for clothes and did not even closely resemble modern coat hanger. And in 1903, a worker at the wire plant A. Parkhouse, having heard enough of complaints from colleagues about the lack of hooks for clothes and a coat, came up with a similarity to the usual hangers.
He made two identical ovals from a wire, placed them opposite each other and connected the ends to a hook. And in 1932, someone guessed to add cardboard to the ovals so that the hanger was stronger, and clothes wet from rain did not crumple when sagging. Years later, a lower bar was added to the design (for storing trousers). Only one thing remains a mystery: how did they keep their clothes until the trempels? Really, as shown in the films - in huge long chests and drawers!

The word "trempel" is perfectly inclined and varies in number. By the way, it is correct to put emphasis on the first syllable, although for some reason other options are found in some cities. Trempel or hanger?
It seems to have become clear what trempel is for clothes. But is it right to call him a hanger? It turns out that these are slightly different devices. The fact is that trempel, aka shoulders, has an additional lower bar on which it is customary to place trousers, skirts, etc. And the hanger most often does not have this detail and is designed for less demanding things, such as trousers, sweaters, etc. p. Although today it is quite difficult to accurately track the fidelity of this theory, because for most people, hangers, a hanger and a trempel are same. Be that as it may, their purpose is almost the same, therefore, it will not be a big mistake to confuse these concepts.
What is trempel?
Today the diversity in the world of hangers is so great that often their eyes run wide: blue, red, strict black, bright neon, etc. For kids, they came up with original coat hanger with your favorite characters from fairy tales, in the shape of hearts, flowers, etc. In general , picking up trempel is the whole story! If you highlight the main criteria by which you can separate the types of hangers, you get the following:
- the material from which the trempel is made (metal, wood, plastic and others);
- the size of the coat hanger (children, adults, for outerwear);
- the presence / absence of a lower bar or clothespins;
- the possibility / impossibility of folding (some hangers are made so that they can be easily folded and packaged even in a women's handbag);
- color (here the imagination of manufacturers is limitless).
As you can see, even such a simple device must be chosen wisely. It is unlikely that you will remain in a good mood if the new shoulders burst under the weight of a heavy coat, and a children's dress simply does not fit on a hanger. So analyze your needs, think what trempel you need, look at the photo and go to the nearest store. And remember: itβs better not to save on buying. It has long been known - avaricious pays twice, and trempel is an important detail for the safety of clothes!
