Ivan Strinić is a Croatian professional footballer who acts as a defender in the Italian club Milan and the national team of Croatia. He is the vice champion of the 2018 World Cup in Russia. I. Strinich was born on July 17, 1987 in the city of Split, Croatia (formerly Yugoslavia). He is a graduate of the football academy of the club "Hajduk Split", where he subsequently began playing at the youth level until 2006.
Ivan Strinich's professional career began in France, after signing a contract for one season with the Le Mans club. At the same time, the Croatian defender was not able to make his debut for the main team, all the performances were held in the backup of Le Man B.
Return to Croatia
After the contract was completed in 2007, Strinić returned to Croatia, where he signed a contract with the club “Hrvatski Dragovolyac”. In the 2007/08 season, Ivan played in 22 matches and scored the only goal scored. In the summer of 2008, he entered into a three-year agreement with Hajduk Split. In total, he spent 51 matches for the club and scored 4 goals, in the 2009/10 season he won the Croatian Cup.
Career in the Ukrainian club Dnepr Dnepropetrovsk
In January 2011, Croatian footballer Ivan Strinich joined Dnipro for 4 million euros. On March 6, 2011, in the debut match of the Ukrainian Premier League against Tavria, he scored the first goal, the match ended with the score 2: 2. In the 2011/12 season, Strinich became the main player of Dnipro and played 112 matches in all tournaments.
Going to Napoli
In January 2015, the Croatian centerback signed a four-year agreement with Napoli for 1.5 million euros. He made his debut as part of the “blue” in the match against Lazio, in which he could not save his team from defeat - 0: 1 in favor of the opponent. In total, he played 26 matches in the Neapolitan team and could not become the main defender, losing the competition to Fauzi Gulyam.
Another failure at Sampdoria and an attempt to play for Milan
In August 2017, Ivan Strinich joined Sampdoria by signing a one-year contract. Unfortunately, in this team the Croatian defender failed to gain a foothold.
On May 27, 2018, Strinich moved to Milan.
National team appearances
In 2002, Ivan Strinich made his debut in the youth team of Croatia until the age of 15. In subsequent years, he played in all age teams of the national team. At a youthful level, he played 30 matches, in which he scored one goal.
In the 2008/09 season, he was declared a member of the Croatian youth team under 21 years old, held two official matches.
May 19, 2010 he made his debut for an adult team in a match against the Austrian national team, which ended with the victory of the “Balkans” with a score of 1-0. Since then, Ivan Strinich has regularly played for the national team. He took part in Euro 2012, held in Ukraine and Poland, where he played all the matches of the group stage. In the match against the Italian national team he gave an assist to Mario Mandzhukich, the match ended with a draw 1: 1.
In qualifying matches for the 2014 World Cup, I. Strinich was a regular player of the main team and helped the team go to the mundial, however, he missed it because of a joint injury.
However, at Euro 2016 and the World Cup 2018 he was the main player of the team, at the last forum he helped his team reach the final.
