Hydrogen sulfide is a chemical substance with toxic properties and an unpleasant odor resembling the smell of rotten eggs. This component is used in manufacturing and in medicine. Its weak solution in water (hydrogen sulfide) is used for medicinal purposes: for irrigation, microclyster, douching, bathtubs. The latter type of treatment is the most common and effective.
Useful properties and indications for use
Hydrogen sulfide is mainly used for healing baths. Depending on the individual characteristics of each organism, the concentration of a substance in water can reach from 10 to 250 mg / l. When immersed in an environment enriched with sulfides and hydrogen sulfide, the human body undergoes a reflex effect. Due to this, blood flow is increased, respectively, nutrition of all internal organs and tissues is improved, regenerative processes and metabolism are accelerated.
Hydrogen sulfide baths are recommended for use in diseases of the skin, joints, bones, ligaments, tendons, muscles. Treatment with this substance for disorders of the nervous, cardiovascular and genitourinary systems is widespread. This procedure is also prescribed to eliminate the consequences of severe injuries (fractures, paresis of paralysis , etc.).
A unique chemical compound is also used in cosmetology: a solution of hydrogen sulfide tightens the skin, fights against acne and acne, and helps to reduce cellulite.
Features of taking medical procedures
Hydrogen sulfide helps to improve blood circulation, which increases the temperature of the human body. Therefore, the temperature of the water in the healing bath in most cases does not exceed 35 degrees. A hotter environment adversely affects the body. However, depending on the condition and disease of the person, the temperature may be slightly lower or higher. The average procedure time is 10 minutes. Excessive exposure to the hydrogen sulfide bath can cause weakness, dizziness, and vasospasm. In this regard, therapeutic measures should be carried out under the supervision of a specialist.
Do not immerse in water completely. The chest area, neck and head must be on the surface. It is not recommended to move while taking a bath. After the procedure, you should thoroughly wipe the body and spend half an hour in a calm state.
In addition to traditional bathtubs, hydrogen sulfide is used in half baths. So, for example, there are procedures designed exclusively for a certain area of ββthe body (most often for legs or arms). Also, water enriched with hydrogen sulfide is used to wash or irrigate the face and head, to rinse the mouth, compresses and lotions.
Contraindications
Do not forget that hydrogen sulfide is still a poisonous substance, therefore, it must be treated with great caution. So, it is forbidden to take therapeutic baths at elevated body temperature, malignant tumors, heart defects, atherosclerosis, tuberculosis, diseases of the kidneys, blood vessels and liver. It is also not recommended to resort to treatment with chemicals during pregnancy and in the subsequent period of breastfeeding.
In no case should you try to take baths at home, as poisoning with hydrogen sulfide can occur. Intoxication is dangerous fainting, falling into a coma and even death. It should be remembered that procedures with chemicals are carried out in specialized rooms equipped with powerful air cleaning systems. Therefore, an ordinary apartment can in no way be a safe place for such treatment methods.
