A talented and hardworking actor, composer and screenwriter Omar Epps has been in films since 1992. His partners on the site were Tupac Shakur, Charlie Sheen, Jude Law, Bruce Willis and Meg Ryan. However, neither promising projects, nor star duets brought the desired recognition. The situation has changed dramatically with the appearance of the actor in the television series about the brilliant diagnostician Dr. House.
Carier start
Omar Epps was born in 1973 in Brooklyn (New York City). An acting career attracted a boy from a young age. A creative and comprehensively developed child tried to realize himself. From the age of ten, Omar has been writing stories, poems, and even trying himself in the popular genre of drawing comics in the West. At the age of 18, he created a hip-hop music band.
Omar's first role was in the short film Green Flash. A serious acting debut is the main role in the movie "Authority", where Omar's partner on the site was Tupak Shakur.
To some extent, the film "Authority" (in some sources literally translated as "Juice"), leaves its mark on the further work of the actor. The role of a difficult teenager is assigned to him. Epps are also often offered the roles of athletes and athletes.
Sports, vampires and gangsters
In 2000, the sports melodrama Love and Basketball appeared on the big screens. Omar Epps plays a young basketball player seeking an athletic career in the NBA. For her sake, he throws his girlfriend and immerses himself in training. But, as the law of the genre requires, after some time, young people meet again. And now the main character faces a serious choice - to get close to his beloved or to leave, this time forever.
Although the plot is not original, however, thanks to the brilliant game of Epps and his film partner Sanae Lathan, he occupies a worthy place in the world cinema distribution. And Omar nominated for the prestigious nomination "Best Actor" according to "Film Chois". This was especially important for the actor, as his previous film “Breakfast for the Champions” was frankly a failure.
From this moment, the success curve begins to slowly but surely move up. In the same year, the horror film Dracula 2000 is released, in which Omar Epps plays a prominent role. Films “The Yakuza Brother”, “Don't Threaten the South Central, Drinking Juice in Your Quarter” and “At the Bottom of the Abyss” are criminal dramas in which Epps plays in his already familiar and well-received role.
Work in the ambulance
For the first time, Omar Epps tried on a doctor’s dressing gown in the cult TV series Ambulance. There, the actor starred in a number of episodes of the third season, playing the role of Dennis Gant - a trainee surgeon. However, for a long time he did not stay there. In the middle of the season, Epps's character commits suicide.
Eight years later, Omar gets a similar role in the series - the role of a neurosurgeon. It is approved only three days before the start of filming. It is his finest hour. Because it is after participating in the world-famous series “House Doctor” that Omar Epps gains real fame.
Dr. House and Eric Foreman
In the series, Omar plays Dr. Foreman, one of the doctors on the diagnostics team at Dr. House. Here, the actor fully manifests himself as a true master of the psychological image. After all, Eric Foreman is not at all a simple character. He is talented and ambitious and, at the same time, stoically demolishes the endless ridicule of the boss. He tirelessly argues with House (which rarely anyone can afford), but deep down he admires his genius. Condemning the life position of the boss, he unconsciously adopts not only his methods, but also manners. And when they point out this to him, he first denies it, and then, realizing the justice of the reproach, he suffers from internal contradictions.
