Joe Flenigan (real name Joseph Dannigan III) is an American actor, best known on the television series Star Gate: Atlantis, The Edge and CSI: Miami .
Biography
The future actor was born in Los Angeles in 1967. As Joe himself said, his real father left the family shortly after the birth of his son. Soon, Nancy, Joe's mother, married businessman John Flenigan. When Joe was six, his family moved to a ranch in Nevada.
After leaving school, the future actor entered the University of Colorado, where he received a degree in history. Then he began to participate in theatrical productions. Joe was a very shy young man. He decided that working in the theater would help him overcome this shortcoming, but then he did not plan to connect his life with the theater or the cinema. But Joe really enjoyed playing on stage, and later on this experience affected his whole life.
During training, Flenigan spent a year in the Sorbonne (Paris), where he studied French.
After graduation, Joe tried himself as a journalist and writer, but did not achieve this success. In 1994, he moved to Los Angeles, deciding to make an acting career.
TV career
Flenigan first appeared on the screen in 1994, playing a small role in the sitcom Family Album. A year later, the actor got a supporting role in the drama television series "Sisters".
In 2000, Joe played in the popular detective series Profile of a Killer. His role was small but memorable.
Joe Flenigan played his first major role in 2002 in the drama series First Monday. The series has only 1 season (13 episodes). For this television series, composer Bruce Broughton was nominated for an Emmy Award.
In 2004, the actor appeared in one of the episodes of the television series " CSI: Miami ". This was the second detective series in the career of Flenigan.
In 2006, the filming of the science-fiction television series Star Gate: Atlantis began, in which Joe Flenigan was approved for one of the main roles, Major John Shepard. The filmography of the actor replenished with the first fantastic series. The role of John Shepard brought Flenigan world fame, because the series was watched by more than 4 million viewers around the world. The first full-length movie in Flenigan’s career was Joseph Tyrol’s independent drama Reason to Believe. Due to the small budget and the lack of advertising, the film remained unknown to the public.
In 1999, Joe played his most famous role at the moment in a full-length movie, playing Jeff Reed in the melodrama "Another Sister." His frame partners were Diane Keaton, Juliette Lewis, Linda Thorson.
In 2003, the actor played one of the main roles in the science fiction film "Criminal Thoughts." The main character of the picture is the young girl Freya, who, shortly before her graduation, begins to hear voices in her head. With a diagnosis of schizophrenia, she spends several years in the clinic. However, psychiatrist Michael Wells soon appears, who realizes that the voices in the girl’s head are the thoughts of the people around her. Among the latest works of Flenigan is worth noting the action movie "Six Bullets", in which he starred with Jean-Claude Van Damme. Joe Flenigan married actress and artist Katherine Coesy in 1996. The couple has three children.
