The beginning of the sports path
Eugene Ketov was born on January 17, 1986 in the provincial city of Gubakh. Hockey is a popular sport in this town. But the level of children's school and professional team is low. Ketov stood on the ice for the first time at the age of six. He liked playing box hockey, and his parents took him to a children's sports school.
Eugene Ketov stood out from his peers. After Eugene turned 13 years old, he received an offer to move to Perm and play for the Hammer children's team. Parents understood that in Perm their child would have a chance to become a professional athlete, and sent him to speak for a new team. There he lived in a hostel, living conditions in which left much to be desired. The money that his parents sent him was barely enough for food.
Moving to Omsk
For the children’s team from Perm, Ketov played two seasons, and then moved to the Omsk “Vanguard” children's school. The main reason for the transition was the conditions in which local children are involved. The school "Vanguard" had a boarding base, good food and a scholarship. Evgeny Ketov in such conditions could fully concentrate on hockey. Ketov’s talent was noticed by the coaches. Eugene himself wanted to get into the main team of the Omsk team as quickly as possible. But there was a high level of competition. At that moment, this team did not need young talent.
The beginning of a professional career
Eugene Ketov is a hockey player who began his professional career quite early. His first among peers began to be connected to the second team of “Vanguard”. For this club Ketov spent 36 games and scored nine points. This striker began his next season with the CSKA Air Force team, which played in the Premier League. Ketov quickly became the main player. Despite the age of the hockey player, the coaches gave him a lot of playing time. After 47 games for the Samara club, he scored three goals.
Career start in the Super League
At the age of 18, Eugene was invited to speak for the Togliatti Lada. It was in this club that Ketov began his career in the elite championship. In his debut season, this striker played 49 games and scored 14 points. In one season, the young hockey player became a favorite of the public. In the next season, he played 58 matches and scored 25 points, becoming one of the most productive players in the team. In total, this hockey player played for the Togliatti team for four seasons. In them, he regularly went on the field and scored productive points.
Career continuation
Before the start of the 2009-2010 season, Ketov moved to Kazan. Hockey club "Ak Bars" is one of the leaders of the Continental League. Ketov had to intensify the attack of the team. But in Kazan, only disappointment awaited him. For 33 matches held, this striker did not score a single goal. He gave only two assists. Such statistics for the attacker is unacceptable, and he left the club at the end of the season. The next club in Ketov’s career was Severstal from the city of Cherepovets. This striker was still moving away from the failure in Kazan. But the efforts and strength of character helped Ketov again regularly gain effective points. For three seasons spent in Cherepovets, he became the real leader of the team. The coaching staff appointed him captain of the club.
Going to SKA
Eugene Ketov in Severstal turned into a high-level player. He became interested in many ambitious clubs. As a result, this striker moved to the SKA club. Eugene was very pleased that he became part of this great team and, finally, he had a real opportunity to fight for the Gagarin Cup. As part of the St. Petersburg club, he immediately became a base player. But he does not manage to gain a leading position.
In 2015, he, together with SKA, won the Gagarin Cup. Ketov made a great contribution to the championship of his team. At the moment, this successful hockey player continues his career in this club.
International career
Yevgeny Ketov with his game in the club championship proved that he corresponds to the level of the national team. He began his performances as part of the youth team of the country. At the World Championships in 2006, he became a silver medalist. And in 2012 he participated in the World Cup for the main team. As a result, our team did not lose a single game and won gold medals.
