The role of Harry Potter (in the Russian dubbing - Alexey Elistratov), a character for the sake of which, in fact, everything was up to, went to the British beginner (at that time) actor - Daniel Radcliffe. Before his stellar role, Daniel managed to play in the film based on the novel by Charles Dickens "David Copperfield." The future "Harry" was born in London, which allowed him to participate in the casting, because a mandatory requirement of Joan Rowling was that only English actors play her characters. According to Dan himself, he was not a big fan of books about the young wizard (three novels had already appeared at that time) and fell in love with his character during the filming of the movie Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (dubbing actors were chosen no less carefully).
But the role of his loyal friend and partner went to Rupert Grint (in the dub - Olga Sirina).
