Countersunk screw: use

The industry produces a huge number of types of fasteners designed for different purposes. These are nails, bolts, screws, anchors, screws. It is about the latter that will be discussed. A screw is a connecting element with a conical head and a threaded rod along the entire length. It is used to connect various parts (wood, metal, plastic, etc.). The mounting socket must be threaded. A cross-shaped slot for screwing is embedded in the plane of the head.

Sometimes it is required to connect parts so that their surfaces do not have any protruding parts. In this case, a countersunk screw is used: securely fastening two surfaces, outwardly it remains completely invisible. In common people it is often called a screw "sweat". A Phillips screwdriver is used to mount this connecting element. After installation in the threaded hole, the screw is tightened to the right.

This fastening is used in a variety of industries: instrumentation, engineering, shipbuilding, utilities and other areas. And in the manufacture of furniture, a countersunk head screw is simply an indispensable element. With it, tables, sideboards, beds, wardrobes and other interior items are aesthetically attractive and comfortable. Often such screws have different additions, for example, an internal hexagon, a pointed end for self-cutting, etc. This greatly expands the scope of their application.

hexagon socket screw
The hexagon screw is convenient in cases where it is necessary to periodically connect and disconnect parts. It differs from the usual one by the presence of a special shape in the head of the hole. For unscrewing and screwing, a special hex key is inserted into it. Such fasteners are stronger than simple, and also serve much longer. Slots of an ordinary screw with frequent unscrewing quickly become unusable, which never happens with a hexagonal groove.

The countersunk screw does not spoil the appearance of things, and the hexagon screw is very reliable. Both types of fastenings are very popular both in industry and in everyday life. Combining these qualities, they release screws simultaneously with a countersunk head and an internal hexagon. Using them, they get very strong, and at the same time imperceptible connections.

gost on bolts

GOST for bolts and screws requires that only special steel grades be used for their manufacture, because the quality of these elements is often directly related to the strength of very important joints. For example, in construction and engineering, the safety of such fasteners may depend on safety, even people's lives.

Screws and bolts can be made of brass, copper and even wood. Steel fasteners are available both uncoated and with it. As the latter, white zinc is most often used.

The countersunk screw is a very important and sometimes simply irreplaceable element. At present, without constructions made with its help, it is impossible to imagine almost any industry. No less often it is used in everyday life, allowing you to make very strong, hidden and neat connections.
