Norman Park: biography of a North Irish athlete

The athlete was born on December 22 in 1986 in the city of Bushmills (County Antrim, Northern Ireland). He was brought up in a family of Protestant Unionists (a form of civic nationalism in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland). At the age of sixteen, Norman Park began to study judo. In this sports discipline, he became a national champion twice: from 2009 to 2010 and from 2011 to 2012. Later, he began boxing while studying mixed martial arts.

Prior to signing the contract with the UFC, Norman Park played in the amateur MMA league, where he had statistics of 16 wins and 2 losses. Here he lost only to the experienced fighter Gregor Lokhran and the invincible Joseph Duffy.

Triumph at The Smashes

In December 2012, Norman Park signed a contract with The Smashes (the regional version of Ultimate Fighter, where British and Australian fighters fight). In the ¼ stage of the tournament, he fought with the Australian Richie Vakulik. During the battle, Park constantly threw himself into the “stalls” and, once again finding himself on top of the opponent, carried out a series of punches, after which Richie had his skin split on the top of his head. However, the referee did not stop the fight. In the second round, Norman Park successfully attacked Richie and knocked him out. As a result, he secured a ticket to the semifinals of the tournament.

Khabilov Norman Park

In the semifinal confrontation, Park met with Briton Brendan Lahnane. Here Norman won by decision of the judges. In the final, he fought against Briton Colin Fletcher and won him on points in a 3-round match.
