The Matrix trilogy, released by Warner Brothers from 1999 to 2003, remains to this day one of the most revered films among science fiction fans, and indeed among people who like to speculate on the transience of this world and where this world is rolls at all. Quotes from The Matrix are very often pronounced by people, and regardless of whether the person watching them said at least one episode of this film or not. Sometimes, having heard them somewhere, a person subsequently simply recites them to the case, without even knowing where the roots of his wit are curling from. But, we will pass directly to the film, its creators and performers of the main roles.
We warn you from the first lines! The article is one solid spoiler! So if you are just going to watch a movie, it is advisable to refuse to read the article.
The semantic core of the "Matrix"
The thought that the then brothers, and now, oddly enough, the Wachowski sisters, the creators of this legendary trilogy, tried to convey was as follows: humanity, in its desire to create artificial intelligence, has crossed the limits of what is permitted. It, nevertheless, was able to breathe in the artificial intelligence the desire for self-knowledge and self-training, and since then, the machine mind, having acquired its "I", realized that it was simply used for their own purposes by some flimsy and small insects. And realizing this, I decided to correct the situation.
There was a war. People, realizing that machines could not function without energy (and then all the cars were powered by the energy of the sun), decided to create a dense shield over the entire Earth from eternal clouds. But, having realized that a person is himself, in fact, one big battery, the machines decided to create power stations for themselves based on real living people.
Deplorable consequences
The events in the first film "The Matrix" of 1999 begin to develop many years after the war was lost by mankind to the net. The generation of energy through human bodies has been put on stream. In order for people to lie quietly in their tanks, the global program “Matrix” was developed by machines. The consciousness of sleeping people lying in the bathtubs and generating electricity for the needs of machines was in this global network and did not even suspect their situation. In The Matrix, they led a calm, familiar to today's people, lifestyle. But no, no, and some suspected that something around was going wrong ...
Main characters: Neo
The main quote from the Matrix most clearly explains the situation of people sleeping in capsules of energy collectors. It may sound a little trivial, but you can’t say better. “You're stuck in the matrix,” prints out his own computer in the upper corner of the screen, Thomas Andersen, a hacker named Neo (Keanu Reeves). And since then his life has changed dramatically.
Led by Morpheus (Lawrence Fishburne), the captain of one of the magnetic-cushioned ships, a Matrix specialist, Neo learns that his suspicions and dissatisfaction with how things are going around were not devoid of soil. When the time comes, he decides to wake up, in which he is helped by the crew of the ship Morpheus under the epic name "Nebuchadnezzar."
Captain morpheus
In the movie The Matrix, Morpheus is one of the key figures. It is with his help that Neo, who, moreover, turns out to be “chosen” for the implementation of a certain prophecy, goes through a “full course of formation” for his intended purpose. Being in the Matrix, his consciousness takes possession of the ability to tailor the laws of the program to himself. What one of the control programs called Smith (Hugo Weaving) experienced in her own skin.
Mr. Smith
But Neo acted somewhat rashly at the end of the first part, when he merged with the Smith program together. He tore it to pieces, but he did not take into account that control programs have the ability to recover. Only this time, programmer Mr. Smith returned with a major change in his program registry.
Having become something like Neo’s negative alter ego, he also gained the ability to influence the minds of people in the matrix, redrawing them for himself. Merging with any consciousness, he turned it into his double, absorbing, at the same time, all the qualities of the personality of human consciousness, which he redrawn for himself.
Pythia and Architect
This is all, including the birth of the chosen one, predicted by Pythia, the matrix soothsayer, the program contrasted in the film with a certain Architect, also the program that created the Matrix, and, as it turned out, there were as many as six versions of the Matrix. If Pythia was something like a troublemaker, then the Architect always tended for the mathematical order. He was the software consciousness of one of the dominant machines of a machine city in real reality.
Two Anomalies or Deception Neo Have to Trick
As it turned out at the end of the second part of the words of the same Architect, all the fuss with the “Chosen One” was also invented by machines in order to control the people whom they managed to wake and save from the capsules of the “energy collectors”. Only this time, everything went wrong as intended. Having merged with the Smith program, both opponents (both Neo and Mr. Smith himself) gained unexpected abilities.
Smith’s abilities have already been mentioned. Neo gained power over machines in the real world. With the power of his mind, he could make unpredictable errors into them at a distance, and since every machine in the real world was controlled by a program, they all went through crashes, shorted out and failed. This was never foreseen by the Architect in his ideas, and therefore the two anomalies that appeared - Smith in the Matrix and Neo in the real world threatened to make such a rustle that only hold on.
Neo was invited by the Architect to return to Zion, the only global city of awakened people, and select about thirty people to revive the next cycle, and all other people will be supposedly completely destroyed by cars. The process of invading the city, located deep below the surface of the earth, has already begun.
But Neo refused the Architect and did not participate in his plans, but went to save his beloved Trinity.
Trinity (Trinity in some translations)
“Knowing the path and following it is not the same thing.” Throughout the film, the heroes often say this phrase to themselves. This quotation from The Matrix is also key and has great meaning. Neo knew the way he had been destined for, but decided to go his own way. He, through manipulation at the program level, rescues his beloved from death by drawing a bullet out of her and manually launching a software alternative to her heart in the matrix essence of Trinity (Carrie-Anne Moss).
After all, if you die in a matrix, then you die in a real body. As Morpheus said in the first part (another good quote from The Matrix) - “The body cannot live without consciousness.” And if your consciousness died in the matrix, and you believed it (only the Chosen One could not believe in death, like Neo at the end of the first part), then you die everywhere, and there and there. But Neo loved his Trinity too much to let her die so easily. Just not in the matrix. And, having shown miracles of "applied manual programming", he saved his girlfriend.
Full mess
Meanwhile, in the Matrix, the Smith program has already taken hold of all human bodies. Now all the people on earth were her copies. Moreover, having shown some ingenuity and resourcefulness, the program managed to crawl into the world of the living, moving at the point of transition from one reality to another and moving into the body of one of the crew members of the reconnaissance ship as consciousness. And at that time, the Architect was already afraid. If Smith was able to cross the line, what prevented him from moving into each of the machines of the real machine world? There was no time for toys.

On this and played Neo. He entered the city of cars and invited the Architect to destroy Smith. In exchange, he insisted that peace be concluded between the people of Zion and the machines, and hostilities cease. True, his beloved, nevertheless, died, and he himself, in a fight with Smith, seemed to be mortally injured. But be that as it may, he fulfilled his part of the deal, and the people were saved.
You're stuck in the matrix!
This film met the expectations of the directors and was well received by the public. In the film "The Matrix" the actors and roles were distributed in the best way. Now, after 15 years, no one can just imagine the heroes of the tape in a different performance. The film also spawned many cults, and also launched the production of a large number of games and comics. Earned a lot of it. Some people in the literal sense of the word are “stuck in a matrix” head over heels. But there is also something that people have found and what they use to this day absolutely free. These are volatile phrases and quotes from the film “The Matrix” 1999. In conclusion, I would like to announce some of them (in addition to those that we have already announced), maybe one of those who have not watched the film will finally understand where the words come from, which he often uses :
- Knock knock, Neo!
- Follow the white rabbit!
- Time is always against us!
- Spoon does not exist! (no spoons!)
- And don’t worry about the vase!
- Everything that has a beginning has an end!
Conclusion
Our article has come to an end. Who picked up spoilers (but they warned you), who just refreshed their memory, can watch the movie one more time and learn a lot of interesting things from it. After each viewing of such spectacular films, you always notice something new that you did not notice for the first time.
And those who are engaged in the development of artificial intelligence - keep in mind. As films like Terminator or The Matrix say: it can end badly. Is it worth it to slow down?
