At school, they sometimes say this: "And this example is solved similarly to the previous one." And every student knows what is meant by an adverb. There are a lot of similarities in the world. Moreover, people often think in stereotypes. To prove this, we need to disassemble the adjective "similar", this is our object of study today.
Value
Remember how it was in mathematics. The teacher sorted out one terribly complex example with the students, and then he gave similar ones to the house. What were they like? That's right, similar. This approach is needed so that boys and girls fill their hand, master knowledge, skills. We are not that distracted, but it is time to move on to the essence of the matter - the value of the object of study. The explanatory dictionary is, as always, concise - it is "similar, similar."
There are words that people have used, for example, for twenty years, and then clarify their meaning by checking books, but the meaning is completely different, it is akin to the coup of N. Copernicus. You should not be afraid of this with our research object. The explanatory dictionary is consonant with the sensation of a word left by the school.
Synonyms
From synonyms of the word “similar”, one should not expect miracles either. The similarity cannot be something original, it’s not to his rank. However, duty and conscience are told to provide the reader with what he needs. The list is as follows:
When you need to compare something with something specific, then this is no problem. For example: “Marine, your young man is the same as the previous one.” That is, young people are similar to each other.
There are also whole phrases:
- In the same vein.
- In the same way.
- The same system.
- In the same way.
Surely the reader understood the principle and without problems will be able to continue this list almost to infinity.
How is an analogy useful?
It saves a person time, effort, and sometimes money. If, for example, you understand that there are cheap analogues to expensive technical innovations, then you can save your budget for more important things. But money is not the main thing. The main resource in life is time. The ability to use analogies saves a person countless minutes, hours, and possibly years. Imagine a textbook case. Suppose a person had a friend who often borrowed and did not repay. Then it turned out that he had a game addiction, and he owed half of the city, and, as you can easily understand, is hopeless.
In the future, a person who has gone through a similar experience is reluctant to lend, and if he does, then mentally says goodbye to money. And of course, he will never have a gamer friend again. There is an old Russian saying "having burnt in milk, you blow into the water." It also conceals the ubiquitous principle of analogy. True, in this case it is erroneous, because water and milk are not equal to each other. They have only one similarity - they are liquids; in all other respects they are different.
Good and evil stereotype
In modern society, it is customary to be not like everyone else. There is one old psychological saying: “one who tries to stand out from the crowd falls into the group of those who tries to stand out from the crowd”. That is, our otherness, which we want to reveal to the world with terrible force, will still not surprise anyone. Efforts are in vain. Analogy and stereotype are related by family ties. If similar is similar, then a stereotype is a similarity raised to the power of a stamp.
It is believed that stereotypes are bad. But this is only half the truth. In fact, it’s not good when a particular person becomes a victim of a stamp, and maybe he does not correspond to him at all. There is a conviction that any girl should be able to cook. Now imagine that a young man rejects a girl only because she does not fit the stove. But probably he rejected the woman of his life. Such a representative of the fair sex should not despair, she just needs a cook who will consider it an honor to cook something for her.
But this similar type of thinking is useful when it comes to abstract knowledge, for example, the same mathematical examples or the wisdom of Russian punctuation. And to be honest, sometimes reducing people to a common set of characteristics of the class or group to which they belong is also good. Imagine that we would comprehend each one specifically without blinding prejudice and personal attitudes? Our psyche would not last long. But there is an adverb “similarly”, the meaning of the word, we hope the reader understood, it also saves our reason from overwork and overheating. Of course, it must be used to the place and time, so as not to fall into a stupid position.
