Childhood and youth
ydrunas was born in Lithuania in the summer of 1975. Until the age of fifteen, he was seriously not interested in any of the sports. Despite this, at an early age it was noticeable that the boy is very well physically developed and strong.
In 1989, he saw on television a program where the world's most powerful people competed among themselves. The guy decided that he wants to become the same as they are. Almost immediately, he decided to go to the powerlifting section.
From the first lessons, the guy began to hit the coaches. He worked with such a weight that many of his peers could not even lift. Even then, it became clear that the young man had a great future.
ydrunas Savickas has been performing at state level competitions for a long time. He showed decent results, despite his fairly young age. Coaches predicted a great future and, as time has shown, they were not mistaken.
Professional career
Despite the fact that the athlete's career began at the age of sixteen, he began to make his first serious successes at the end of the twentieth century. First, he sets Lithuania's world record by crouching with a barbell. He obeyed a weight of 400 kg. Savickas will become the only Lithuanian strongman to gain 1000 kilograms in triathlon.
Already in 1998, he became the winner of the Strongman competition. This tournament was attended by the most powerful athletes in the world. Despite the fact that the Lithuanian was only twenty-three years old, he was able to leave behind many outstanding powerlifters.
Next year he will go to this tournament as one of the main favorites. Unfortunately, we managed to take only the second place. Zhydrunas lost to the champion just a few pounds.
In the future, the athlete expected many great victories and awards. In 2003, he first performed at the Arnold Strongman Classic. The Lithuanian will win gold at the first attempt and will remain the best for five years. In the period from 2010 to 2015, Savickas will only win gold once, the rest of the awards will be silver.
