The legislation provides for the existence of such an accounting document in all institutions, regardless of their size, activity and form of ownership. This is necessary to achieve these goals:
- monitoring the condition and storage conditions of all fire extinguishers;
- timely detection and elimination of all malfunctions in these devices.
Who is responsible for filling out the fire extinguisher logbook?
In any organization, an employee should be appointed who assumes all obligations to monitor the condition of the fire fighting equipment. He is also responsible for maintaining a journal for accounting fire extinguishers (OT).
To fulfill all these duties, such a person first goes through a short course on the basics of fire safety and passes a qualification exam. Only after that he is allowed to perform the above duties.
If such a person was not responsible, the record keeping and fire safety monitoring are in the hands of the head of the institution.
Form and composition
Information on how to fill out a journal for accounting fire extinguishers and what exactly should be contained in it is indicated in the Code of Rules 9.13130.2009.
According to this normative act, the accounting document under consideration consists of three parts:
- cover;
- information on the condition of all fire fighting equipment;
- information about each individual fire extinguisher.
There are no particularly strict rules on how to fill all these parts. However, the joint venture lists information that must be entered in the journal:
- F. I. O. responsible for maintaining this document;
- data of organizations conducting technical inspection and repair;
- production date, brand, expiration date and serial number of all fire extinguishers;
- the date of commencement of operation of each of them, assigned numbers, storage locations, data of initial surface inspection at the enterprise;
- days and results of all inspections, refueling and repairs of any components of fire fighting equipment;
- time of use of OT for its intended purpose;
- date of removal from the balance of each of the devices.
Magazine for accounting fire extinguishers: how to fill out the third and last pages?
The cover, which is the first page of the document, is not filled out. The first entries are made only on the third:
- name of the institution where the journal is opened;
- date of registration.
The column "End date" is filled out only before the delivery of this accounting document to the archive. By the way, the same number should begin a new magazine, which is started instead of the old one.
The following page contains the following information:
- number of numbered pages;
- date of issue;
- F. I. O. and signature of the head of the enterprise;
- wet seal.
What needs to be recorded in the main part?

This part is a collection table with data on the status of all fire extinguishers. It allows you to quickly evaluate the entire organization of fire safety.

Each of them has a different number of columns, which does not prevent them from indicating the main data:

- his condition;
- storage;
- responsible person.

Entering data for each fire extinguisher
The third and final part of the journal is a list of operating certificates for all equipment.
The following is an example of design.
This form is optional and may have some differences. The main thing is the content. It consists of two parts.
Brief information about the fire extinguisher:
- mark;
- inventory and serial numbers;
- where is stored;
- when and by whom it is made;
- when put on the balance sheet of an institution.
Information on the maintenance of the fire fighting device.
Here, with dates and signatures, all data on the following manipulations is entered:
- on surface inspections of the hull (quarterly and annual);
- on checking the mechanics and active substance (carried out once a year);
- about refueling (the period depends on the brand);
- about repair work;
- about cases of using a fire extinguisher for its intended purpose.

- draw yourself in any graphics editor.
In the second and third cases, the printed sheets must be flashed, counted and their number marked on the last page.
