In the Orthodox tradition, it is called hell, tartar, hell fire. In fact, in almost all religions and faiths the meanings of this concept are similar. Hell is the place where sinners (their souls) are tormented in intense fire.
There are a large number of icons and frescoes in temples dedicated to the topic of punishment in fiery hell. They depict sinners burning in a fire.
The term “purgatory” can also be considered a synonym for the concept of “hell”. As you can see, the word under study has a large number of definitions that are similar in meaning. But, despite various religions and interpretations, in fact it is hell, where the souls of sinners and unbelievers suffer.
