How to choose a barbell bar?

Currently, the range of bars in sports stores is particularly diverse. Therefore, making the right choice is quite difficult. Let’s try to figure out what parameters matter if you select the bar neck.

The form

Not so long ago, exclusively direct crossbars were used, since manufacturers did not attach defining importance to the form. The first thing that we decided to change was the length of the bar neck, since many athletes needed compact shells for training in cramped conditions. Today, direct vultures of the most various lengths are available, designed for use complete with separate racks.

The EZ-shaped barbell is in fairly high demand. This shape provides the convenience of performing bending movements, thanks to the installation of the hands in a natural position. During training with such a projectile, the wrists are in the anatomically correct position.

The bar's W-bar is a modified version of the previous solution. This design is characterized by an impressive bend, which opens up great opportunities for holding the projectile with various grips. Numerous athletes note an increase in natural returns during training with vultures of this form.

barbell sizes
The choice of parameters for the neck largely depends on the conditions in which the training will take place, the nature of the exercises that are subject to regular execution. The most common sizes are 120, 150, 180 and 220 cm. The bulk of the athletes are recommended to stop at an average length. Otherwise, you can seriously limit your own abilities when performing individual exercises.

Weight

Most athletes choose a weighty barbell bar. The impressive weight of the crossbar indicates not only the quality of the product, but also its resistance to mechanical damage. In addition, the operation of a heavy neck provides additional load.

Mounts

The locks deserve special attention when choosing a neck. Currently, there are several types of fasteners for fixing pancakes: in the form of a nut, a smooth sleeve and a spring.

With nuts everything is very clear. It is enough to put on a pancake and wrap the lock. The only inconvenience is the need to twist and screw fasteners if necessary, change the weight.

Handling spring locks is much easier. If necessary, fix the pancakes, they are simply slightly squeezed, put on weight, and then released. However, such a mount is not able to withstand a significant load for a long time when moving the rod to a vertical position.

If we talk about locks in the form of a smooth sleeve, the latter are instantly put on the neck, are easily fixed and contribute to the strong fixing of pancakes. As additional reinforcing elements, stoppers in the form of bolts or spring clips can be used here. Such decisions are often resorted to when it is necessary to ensure safety during the organization of serious competitions.
