Modern fashionistas and beauties sometimes care about the question: “What is shugaring?”. Those who have some knowledge of the English language understand that this is due to some kind of sugar procedure. And they are right. Actually, shugaring is sugar epilation, and it’s very effective.
Explaining what shugaring is, it should first be said that this is a very ancient type of hair removal. They say that the Egyptian Queen Nefertiti herself , who was famous for unprecedented beauty, used it. Only then, in the XIV century BC, instead of sugar, honey, wax and plant juice were used. And sugar to remove excess hair began to be used by Queen Cleopatra, famous not only for her beauty, but also possessed secret knowledge on caring for the female body. Perhaps that is why they say about shugaring that this is Persian hair removal.
In any case, no matter how the procedure is called, every day it becomes more popular among our beauties. Now almost every beauty salon can offer this simple and very economical way to get rid of unwanted hair.
Now we will consider what shugaring is in practice, how this procedure is done correctly. First you need to prepare the skin. It is advisable to do a peeling two days before hair removal. Immediately before the procedure, you can not apply various creams and moisturizers to the skin - it must be absolutely dry. In addition, for the best effect, masters use talcum powder. It is applied to the skin in those places where the sugar paste will be placed for hair removal.
Apply sugar mass (still warm) with your hands in an even layer on a small area of the skin. Other devices can also be used: wooden sticks or spatulas. You need to do this against hair growth.
When the sweet mass cools down a little, it needs to be removed, now by hair growth (this is a very important point!). You can also use rags of fabric or strips of paper. Then you get something like
waxing. But, in comparison with the latter, shugaring has several advantages:
- Sugar hair removal is hypoallergenic, since it does not contain dyes and fragrances, so skin irritation will not appear. This allows you to get rid of hair in any part of the body.
- Shugaring is carried out at a natural temperature. This will protect the skin from burns.
- After the procedure, there is no problem of ingrown hair, because they are removed in the direction of growth.
- The remnants of the sweet mass after epilation are washed off with plain water. You do not need to use additional various products or oils.
- The production of sugar paste does not require additional costs, which makes accessible the process of shugaring at home.
Making sweet syrup at home is not difficult. You need to take 10 parts of sugar, 1 part of water and the juice of half a lemon. Stir everything in a small saucepan and put on medium heat. When the mixture boils, reduce the heat to a minimum and cook for about 10 minutes, stirring constantly. In this case, it is necessary to ensure that the color of the syrup becomes honey, and not brown at all. It is very important not to digest the mixture. When everything is ready, the syrup should be poured into another, more convenient container, and allowed to cool to an acceptable temperature (at least an hour). After you can start shugaring.
Of course, sugar depilation still has one drawback - the hair will have to be grown to a length of 2-4 mm. However, it seems inconsequential compared to all the benefits. Indeed, the result is perfectly smooth skin in any part of the body, and the effect lasts for a long time (2–4 weeks).
Now we know what shugaring is, and how to conduct this “sweet” procedure without leaving your home.
