Tarkovsky: the early years
Tarkovsky was born in early April 1932. His father was a famous poet, this is Arseny Tarkovsky. Unfortunately, he left his family when the boy was only three years old. In the arms of Maria Ivanovna remained two children - Andryusha and his younger sister Marina. Subsequently, not one film by Andrei Tarkovsky will be devoted to these difficult times (pre-war and military). The director will express her special gratitude to the mother for her stamina by removing one of her best films in her honor.
Maria Ivanovna was really distinguished by her enviable devotion to her family: despite her attractiveness, she did not remarry and devoted her life to children. Tarkovsky repeated more than once that if he took part in the profession, it was only thanks to his mother.

After school, Andrei Arsenievich chose a rather exotic profession for study: he became a student of the faculty of oriental studies. Before getting into the cinema, Tarkovsky tried himself in the role of a geologist and collector (employee of the institute).

Andrei Tarkovsky, whose films entered the world treasury of cinema, only by the age of 22 understood what he really wanted to be. Then he took his documents and took them to VGIK. Tarkovsky was accepted into the studio of the Soviet film director Mikhail Romm.
By the time the director was released from VGIK, Soviet cinema was experiencing a new round in its development. In connection with the Khrushchev "thaw," Tarkovsky was finally able to get acquainted with the work of his future idols - Fellini, Akira Kurosawa and Ernst Bergman.
The first short film of the director was called “Assassins”. The script for the mini-film was written based on the work of Ernest Hemingway. This work was highly appreciated by the artistic director of Tarkovsky - Romm.
The next screen production was the short film “There Will Be No Dismissal Today” based on real events that took place in Kursk during the war.
The final final work is considered to be a short film “Skating rink and violin”, the script for which was written in collaboration with Andrei Konchalovsky. This film was the beginning of a long friendship between two future famous movie masters.

In total, Andrei Arsenievich made more than fifteen paintings. Some of them are in exile (the director emigrated to France in the 80s).
Andrei Tarkovsky, whose films are quite distinctive and more like art in the spirit of an arthouse, received many film awards and awards. His very first full-length film entitled "Ivan's childhood" immediately became the winner of the Venice Film Festival.
The second full-length film - “Andrei Rublev” - received recognition from the audience, but was included in the list of so-called semi-forbidden films: that is, censorship did not officially ban them, but they were not shown on central television either. But the picture entered the top ten best films of the world according to the English magazine Sight & Sound.
It so happened that every creation of Tarkovsky caused a stir in society: “Solaris”, “Mirror”, “Stalker”, etc. The director himself explained his success by filming a “deeply personal” movie, which, of course, found a response in the hearts of the audience.

The most expensive person in the life of Andrei Arsenievich has always been a mother. He felt it especially sharply after her death in the late 70s. Somehow surviving his loss, the director set about creating a new script, code-named "Nostalgia." So there was a film by Andrei Tarkovsky dedicated to his mother.
The plot of "Nostalgia" is developing in the scenery of Italy. The main character (Oleg Yankovsky) is a Russian writer who came to Italy to work. In this beautiful country, nothing pleases him. He yearns for Russia and wants to return home, but some circumstances interfere with him. The film is more like an emotional sketch, because its plot is not eventful.
