"Mechanic". Actors of one of the most notable films about contract killings

Currently, the nostalgic tendency to produce modern action films in the style of the 80s or to shoot remakes of old fighters is not losing ground. After the discoverer Sylvester Stallone and his “The Expendables”, a lot of such films appeared, among which the criminal action movie with elements of the thriller “Mechanic” (the main actors: D. Statham, B. Foster, T. Goldwin) stands out clearly. The film was shot in the old style, saturated with tough, brutal action, charismatic characters. This is a pure male ribbon with a severe age rating of R.

Classic action

The film “Mechanic” is a remake of the 1972 film of the same name by Michael Winner. The director of the picture was Simon West. The author’s approach of the creator of "Air Prison" surprised many fans of the original tape. The remake turned out to be very gloomy, but nonetheless very dynamic, with the presence of a mass of stamped genre components. Almost nothing connects him with the 1972 film: other victims, situations, heroes. However, over forty years, the very approach to creating militants has changed markedly. Film critics do not recommend looking for a connection between the two pictures, since there is very little in common in them. However, adaptation to the conditions of harsh modernity has benefited the project, the film "Mechanic" has a rating of IMDb: 6.60.

The gloom and drama of what is happening successfully emphasize the gray tones that prevail in the picture. The action movie is closer to the creation of Phillip Atwell's “War”. The actors who took part in the production of the film do not recommend comparing the film “Mechanic” with “Adrenaline”, “Carrier”. This is a completely independent product.

Plot

As in any other classic action-film, the plot is simplified to such a stage that its vicissitudes do not interfere with the main thing - chases, hand-to-hand fights, shootings and ideal plans to eliminate the ordered goals. The protagonist Arthur Bishop (Jason Statham) is a "mechanic" (a perfectionist hired killer). After the death of a close friend, he takes custody of the son (Ben Foster) of the deceased. He teaches the kid everything that he knows and knows how to do. Soon they are already nearing the demise of various criminal elements: rapists, murderers, liars and bandits.

The ideal candidate

Popularly beloved action hero Jason Statham was the perfect candidate to star in the movie. He appears before the viewer in the usual role: a lot, but accurately shoots, fights and seduces beauties with his irrepressible charisma. Nevertheless, in the project of Simon West he is not familiar to everyone as a unidirectional bone-killer, as, for example, in all parts of the Carrier. Statham presents his hero as an aesthetic professional, an expert in his field. The mechanic collects a retro car and listens to the classics exclusively on vinyl records. In the film, a lot rests on the charisma and brutality of the actor. His stone face, transmitting the whole range of emotions experienced in one muscle movement, the audience will not get bored for a long time.

The English actor, who began the path to success with a modeling career, is known for the work of Guy Ritchie: “Revolver”, “Big Jackpot”. Statham's debut is the film "Cards, Money, Two Trunks", which also put Richie. Since 2000, Jason’s film career has developed rapidly, the adrenaline dilogy has been released, followed by the Carrier franchise and the Expendables series of films. Currently, the filmography of the actor has 50 paintings. In 2016, a sequel to the 2010 action movie will be released, in which Jason Statham will play the main role again - “Mechanic: Resurrection”.

ben foster mechanic

Workmate

Perfectly sets off the image of the main character, a student-partner Steve, who appeared in a tragic coincidence, in which Ben Foster reincarnated. The actor, distinguished by the texture of an impudent teenager, does not come to the forefront of the story, but does not go into the shadow throughout the continuation of the film. The presence of his character in the action movie allows the creators to demonstrate the infamous generational conflict, which is widely used on killer-themed films. Beginning "professionals" are trying to take it abruptly, not paying attention to small details, making a lot of oversights. Troubles have to be tackled by wise experience mentors.

Foster is not too familiar to a wide audience, but this did not prevent the actor from perfectly playing his role. Steve Macken doesn’t have a single gram from the stupid teenager from Love Virus. Ben Foster “Mechanics” felt, so his character fit perfectly into the atmosphere of the picture. The actor managed to correctly convey the emotions and mood of his character. The roles in the following films are considered the most significant work in an actor’s career: “X-Men: The Last Battle”, “Pandorum”, “And the Storm Came”, “Warcraft” and, of course, “The Mechanic”. The actors who worked with Foster predict a bright future for him.

Acting Ensemble

In general, judging an acting game is quite difficult, since it is typically genre. Harsh faces, formidable looks, snatches of harsh phrases. Against the background of Foster and Statham, their brutal Spartan images, the episodic appearance of Harry Macken, the character of Donald Sutherland, is similar to the advent of aliens. In a world of continuous violence, where every first is ready to destroy every second, his hero laughs, looks at those around him through pink glasses, even on the threshold of his own violent death. His presence is the greatest contrast of the action movie. The Canadian actor is known for his films: Time to Kill, Pride and Prejudice, The Hunger Games (all parts), and so on.

Tony Goldduin, who played the role of Dean, is best known for his role as antagonist Karl Bruener in the 1990 melodrama Ghost. The American actor was in demand in the 90s, then his career went into decline. Participation in the production of the action movie "Mechanic" by colleagues in the workshop was called an attempt to reanimate fading popularity. The actor’s chance was realized - in 2014 he was invited to the divergent blockbuster.

Labor weekdays killers

Despite the unobtrusive plot and the vigor of action scenes, all the characters of the film can see personalities and characters, which encourages people watching the fate of them, as much as empathizing with the hero of a furious action movie. Characters are not scattered with words, throwing in capacious short phrases that do not tire the viewer. All actors deserve praise and all kinds of praises.
