Films can be different. Some are designed to give a fun and easy evening to two people or a noisy company. Others are better to watch without fuss, fuss, tuned in to a wave of reflection. Of particular interest are paintings that describe the life of people known to the world. They tell their story from a new angle, changing the usual opinion of society. The film, with a somewhat philosophical and biblical title, Paradise Lost, whose actors tell us the story of a simple guy who met the family of Pablo Escobar, is among them.
Famous person
Love, honor, choice, survival - all this is "Lost Paradise." The actors and the roles they performed had to tell a story that was amazing to the core.
Pablo Escobar (Pablo Emilio Escobar Gaviria), or rather, his life, became the basis for creating the picture. For the whole world, he was the personification of cruelty and violence. One of the most famous and influential figures in the criminal business, Pablo Escobar was of a very outstanding origin. The son of a farmer and teacher, once an ordinary Colombian boy, years later became a drug lord, whose principles horrified people.
Researchers give only an approximate number of lives that were cut short by the Escobar gang - 10,000 people.
Someone considered him a real protector of the poor and Robin Hood, because he not only distributed part of his capital to people, but also built housing for them. For this, the population praised him, and posters hung around the city with the image of the drug lord and the signature "St. Pablo."
Sentimentality and love for the family accelerated the death of Escobar. While on the run, he still called his wife, and the police were able to track his location. The drug lord died from a head shot by a sniper.
Colombian flavor
Hollywood has a special passion for the great personalities of the underworld. In the movie "Paradise Lost", actor Benicio Del Toro played the world famous Pablo Escobar. A colorful appearance and the ability to feel truly complicated characters allowed him to perfectly play his role.
However, the film is interesting, first of all, because it is not a continuous adaptation of the biography of Escobar. He remains in the background, as the plot unfolds around the young guy Nick, who came to visit his brother. Such a directorial move provided a lot of opportunities for the filmmakers.
Main character
Pablo Escobar is a very strong and extraordinary personality, but screenwriters and directors were able to skillfully present him with moderate doses, without overshadowing the main character, Nick, who was played by actor Josh Hutcherson in the film “Paradise Lost”.
His character is a simple American guy, a soul craving for extreme and adventure. He enjoys surfing and decides to visit his brother, who lives in Colombia.
On the picturesque shore, Nick meets a beautiful girl with the tender name of Maria. Young people fall in love and they have a relationship. However, soon the guy finds out that his lover is far from an ordinary family. Her uncle Pablo Escobar is a brutal drug lord and enemy of America.
The girl shows Nick the other side of the life of a criminal leader. He is adored by the locals, with whom he builds housing and gives out money.
Escobar himself treats the stranger with distrust, but then gives him a chance to enter the family. Only now Nick realizes how dangerous and cruel life has become around him, that behind smiles and glee hides ruthlessness and the struggle for survival.
Some film critics give a low rating to Josh Hutcherson's play in this film. They argue that the role of a guy whose fate involuntarily began to depend on the world of the drug business was not given to the actor. Uncomplicated, from the point of view of psychologism, scenes where the hero simply drinks beer in his underwear and talks about serious things, turn into ridiculous comic.
Perhaps the actor still needs to “grow” to such dramatic roles, because most recently he played in films aimed at a teenage audience. However, viewers often disagree with the opinion of critics, so to give their own assessment, it is worth watching a movie.
Real feelings
The love story of the actors of "Lost Paradise" Claudia Traisak and Josh Hutcherson from the screen grew into a real one. After filming the film, fans watched fresh photos of a kissing couple for a long time. Perhaps the screen Nick and Maria could not express everything on the site, but because their relationship grew into a romantic outside.
The actors of "Lost Paradise" showed a love story, the background for which was the underworld. Without romance, without adventures - only rudeness, violence and loyalty to other people's principles.
Special movie
The film "Paradise Lost", the actors and roles in which are selected with precision and professionalism, is the merit of the entire team of creators, as well as director Andrea Di Stefano. The image of the famous drug lord allowed to attract a serious, mature audience, while the love of two young heroes and its dramatic development interested young people.
