Technical animal fat: GOST, application, production

In the process of production of meat and bone meal , a fraction is released - technical animal fat. It is also obtained from carcasses and their parts that have not passed the veterinary control. The resulting fat is of three categories, divided by characteristics.

Animal fat from ancient times is used not only in food, but also in the manufacture of personal care products. There was a time when it was used to illuminate housing, to treat frostbite. Until now, animal fat is used in folk medicine.

Varieties of fat

Technical fat of animals is obtained from carcasses, viscera, which for some reason have not been selected by the sanitary inspection. For the production, individual parts of the carcass intended for the production of technical fat are also used.

After multi-level processing of raw materials, several grades of fat are obtained. Each of them undergoes a rigorous check for compliance with GOSTs. A certified product is assigned a grade.

  1. First-class fat. It has a milky white or slightly yellowish tint. In such a product, the moisture percentage is not more than 0.3%.
  2. Second-rate technical animal fat. It has a tan or yellow tint. The amount of moisture in it is about 0.5%.
  3. Third grade. The product has a dark brown tint. Moisture content - up to 1.5%. This type, like the other two, is produced according to GOST.

Characteristics of varieties of fat

Technical animal fat is standardized by GOST 1045-73. According to it, different types of products have different characteristics.

Technical animal fat in accordance with GOSTs must be packaged, stored and transported. There are also standards for product performance checks.

Animal fat technical GOST

Storage, packaging, transportation

Technical grease is packaged in various containers. It can be:

  • wooden barrels (GOST 8777-80);
  • metal barrels (GOST 6247-79);
  • tankers, railway tanks (GOST 9218-86).

When packaging the product in wooden barrels, they are lined with polyethylene from the inside or covered with a layer of water glass. Re-use of containers is allowed, but only after thorough cleaning and disinfection. Before laying, the product is cooled to a creamy consistency. To prevent polyethylene from passing fat at the joints, the packaging is tightly closed. For this, special clamps are used.

Shipping is regulated by GOST 14192-77. In this case, the following information shall be applied on each container:

  • product development date;
  • variety;
  • production standard.

Third-grade technical animal fat is allowed to be transported by any means of transport. When transporting the product in an open car, it is covered with tarpaulin.

Application

With the development of mechanical engineering, the production of technical animal fat has allowed the development of new fields of application. With it, you can reduce friction in various devices, including cars. Based on this, fats began to be taken as a basis in the production of various lubricants, such as solid oil.

Glycerin is obtained from fat. It is used in the military industry, in the production of tobacco products, in the manufacture of varnishes and paints, in medicine.

Technical grease is widely used in the manufacture of personal care products. The product is used as a base in soap making.

Modern technologies have made it possible to obtain biodiesel from fat . Adding biodiesel does not require engine design changes. Currently, there are several thousand gas stations in the world that sell this type of fuel.

Getting

Technical fat is obtained by processing unsuitable raw fat, carcasses of animals that have not passed the veterinary control, unsuitable for feeding parts of animals.

Animal fat technical third grade

The following raw materials are used as raw materials for the production of fat:

  1. Parts of the carcass, organs that the veterinary inspection rejected.
  2. Confiscated.
  3. Low-nutrient parts of the body. These can be the ears, intestines, eyeballs and other parts.
  4. Food industry waste. For the production of industrial fat can use fat trim, fat from grease traps, etc.
  5. Embryos, genitals.
  6. The corpses of fallen animals. Such carcasses are sent for processing only after the permission of veterinary control. If the animal fell from a dangerous infection, then the carcass is disposed of in accordance with the sanitary and epidemiological standards.

Depending on the raw materials, all technical fats are divided not only by grades, but also by type into pork, beef, mutton, bone, mixed.

The production technology of the product includes several stages of processing raw materials. First it is crushed, then sterilized. After that, drying is carried out. Then, the dried raw material goes to the press, where the fats are squeezed. The resulting product is subjected to several types of purification. It is sent to a vibrating screen, where large fractions are cleaned, then to the decanter and then to the separator.

After pressing and cleaning, special conditions are created so that the technical animal fat settles. After this, the finished product is laid out in containers.

Storage

Storage of finished products does not require the creation of specific conditions. Technical fat of animals should not be exposed to very low and very high temperatures. You can store the goods for a sufficiently long time, provided that it will be stored in a tank or in another large capacity.

Animal fat technical production

Technical fat is widely used in various fields of activity. Every year there are new ways to use the product. Not only personal hygiene products, cosmetics are made from fat, but also fuel for cars and much more.
