The Northwest Federal District is a certain territory of the European part of Russia. It combines 7 regions, 1 city โ€‹โ€‹of federal significance, 2 republics and 1 autonomous region. All of them are located in the north and north-west of the country.

The history of Komi begins in 1921. Until 1936, it was equated with the autonomous region, but from December 5 of that year it was awarded the title of a republic, which is part of the Soviet Union.
