Education keeps up to date: the classification of games in pedagogy

The game is not only a fun and entertaining pastime for children of primary and secondary school age. Its elements are most actively included in the educational process and are comprehensively applied in the classroom. In this regard, in modern didactics, a whole direction has formed, called game pedagogical directions or, more simply, pedagogical games.

The concept of the game in pedagogy

game classification
The classification of games in the system of the pedagogical process depends primarily on those goals that the teacher seeks to achieve, and the actual results obtained by their application. According to the methodological recommendations, the following game typology has been adopted.

  • Depending on the types of activity: active physical, i.e. motor, mobile; mental (or intellectual); related to work; social (imitating public relations); psychological (simulating various kinds of psychosituations).
  • The classification of games is also carried out depending on the nature of the pedagogical process for which they are used. In this regard, they can be:

a) educational, generalizing, controlling, games with elements of education, didactics;

b) cognitive, educational, educational;

c) creative, with elements of diagnostics, reproduction, etc.

    Another classification of games is associated with the methodology for their implementation. In this regard, the plot, business, production, role-playing, etc. are distinguished.
  • By analogy with the school curriculum and subjects, mathematical games are distinguished, in physics, chemistry, biology; linguistic, literary, musical, historical; production and labor, sports, physical education, etc.
  • According to the environment or the environment involved in the process, the classification of games is determined by their technologies. This makes it possible to talk about street, indoor, computer, board, games with different objects or without them.
  • The age criterion is considered one of the determining factors in the selection of forms and methods of analysis and the selection of activities. Therefore, the classification of games for preschoolers will be slightly different than for students, say, middle and senior managers. A child from two to six years old (most often at that age parents give him to the kindergarten) in an entertaining way solves a number of the most difficult tasks for him. Various kinds of designers, puzzles, mosaics, inserts are an excellent toolkit for educational games, while older children use other objects as accessories.

    Sticks, cubes, balls, erasers and other objects are used by babies in various subject-building, labor activities, being at the same time a means of development and motor skills, and intelligence. Classification of games in the lessons is given taking into account not only age, but also school discipline, stages of forms and classes. For example, a reporting lesson, a lesson-court, a lesson-concert, a lesson-dramatization are conducted at the final stage of the study of the topic as a generalization. In general, if we talk about the educational process as a whole, then teachers consider imitations, business games, psycho-sociograms to be the most popular and productive in school practice.

The main task of using gaming technologies is to make the educational process more entertaining and productive.
