Roman Alexandrovich Karmazin is a former boxer who performed in the middle weight category. During his professional career he has achieved seven championship belts.
Childhood
Roman Karmazin was born on January 2, 1973. The birthplace was the city of Kuznetsk in the Penza region. The first fight was held at the age of fourteen in the school yard. As a child, Roman was engaged in the gymnastics section and showed rather high hopes. Once friends brought to school gloves and invited Karmazin to fight. Responding with consent, Roman Karmazin was able to withstand quite confidently against a boy who has been engaged in boxing for several years. The guys invited him to visit the sports section, to which he agreed and soon went to classes.
Subsequently, Roman Karmazin began to go to gymnastics classes in the morning, and boxing in the evening. Three years later, he still made a choice in favor of the latter.
Service and relocation
Serve Roman was sent to the Air Defense Forces. During the service, despite the prohibitions, he often visited the gym.
After returning home, he continued to engage in boxing. However, the coach, seeing him as a great potential, advised him to leave his hometown in order to get better skills. Roman Karmazin went to his uncle in St. Petersburg.
After the move, Roman had a very hard time. There was a constant lack of money. Karmazin ate mainly loaves. In sections Roman Karmazin was engaged twice a day. Between training, he worked as a loader with his uncle.
Going to Dynamo
Once Karmazin quarreled with the coach and left the section. The next stop in his career was the boxing school, in which Igor Lebedev coached . This transition has become one of the important decisions in the life of Roman. However, Lebedev did not want to work with the defectors, but allowed him to go to the gym.
Karmazin constantly attended classes and showed excellent work. In the ring, the boxer was not equal. Often a young man defeated even fighters in a larger weight category. However, Lebedev stubbornly did not want to notice him.
Later, Roman Karmazin, whose boxing was not particularly wanted, realized that the coach had arranged a check for him in this way. Lebedev wanted to know what a boxer is and whether he should spend time. However, at that moment, the young man did not understand this and was very upset by this attitude.
Basically, the mentor spoke a few words to Karmazin and continued to engage with his athletes. Roman was trying to find out what instructions he was giving to his students, but he was very difficult to explain and understand it was impossible. Only later, as Roman himself said, did he realize that Lebedev was a great coach.
The beginning of a professional career
Over time, the relationship between Lebedev and Karmazin became more friendly, and the boxing school became his second home. Soon our hero began to perform in professional fights. At that time in Russia boxing was just beginning to take shape. However, there was still not enough money. For the duel, he could earn about two hundred dollars, but about thirty percent went to the manager. The result was that quite often Roman Karmazin became a participant in fights without rules. Fights, by the way, most often ended in his favor.

It took six long years to compete for the WBC title. Then the champion was Oscar De La Hoya. Everything turned out so that in 2002 the young athlete had to hold one of the main fights in his career. However, Roman Karmazin, whose biography boasts dashing twists, ran into a problem. Then, Roman Schafer was the manager of Roman. He could not agree on a battle, and soon De La Hoya moved to another weight category. The novel also got the opportunity to fight against Javier Castillejo.
Training and duel
The guy very responsibly approached the preparation for the fight. Spent almost the whole day in the hall. As Lebedev later said , the boxer had to literally be kicked out of the gym. Usually, athletes are forced to perform loads, but here it was the other way around.
Roman went to battle alone. At that time, rumors appeared in St. Petersburg that Karmazin had a serious argument with the coach. However, as it turned out later, Roman played a scandal so as not to substitute a coach, as he suspected that he would be defeated.
The performance in Madrid was unsuccessful. The fighter was defeated on points. Returning to Russia, Roman gave part of the fee to the coach and announced that he was going to end his career. However, Lebedev refused money and did not even talk about it.
Return
A month later, Lebedev called Roman and offered to attend a training session. Having a little rested, the athlete went to the first classes after a break. He expected that he would hear a lot of criticism in his direction, but everyone, on the contrary, supported the boxer and demanded a return to the ring.
Soon Karmazin decided to again engage in professional fights. Training hard, the boxer managed to win the European title, and then defended him twice.
A serious blow for him was the death of Igor Lebedev. Roman was very attached to the coach and was very worried about his death. He went alone to fight for the world title. However, in America, he was waiting for a new disappointment. The manager, who worked with him, taking advantage of the fact that Roman did not know the language, concluded a contract unfavorable for the boxer. Soon, the fighter managed to get acquainted with a Russian-speaking lawyer who helped achieve justice and added an additional twenty-five percent to the fee.
Subsequently, the drafting of all contracts took place under his close supervision. In the summer of 2005, Karmazin managed to win Cassimo Oumu in the battle for the championship title.
The next year, the boxer spent without fights, and in the summer of 2006 lost in battle to Corey Spinks.
In January 2008, he got the opportunity to participate in the championship match, defeating the Colombian Dionisim Miranda. In the summer of the same year, in a draw, he fought against IBF champion Sebastian Sylvester.
As Roman himself stated, in his entire career he was able to earn less than one million dollars. Karmazin does not drink or smoke. Having tried alcohol once in the army, he was very poisoned. He considers Kostya Ju and Roy Jones to be his idols .
