If you really want to get a good crop from your garden, then itโs not enough just to sow it with the first seeds that come across. First you need to decide what exactly you will plant. If you, for example, have chosen carrots, then you need to pay attention not only to the quality of its seeds, the method of planting and caring for them. You will also have to learn how to thin out carrots properly. The future crop depends on each of these components.
So, for planting, you need to choose only seeds with a characteristic carrot smell. It is necessary to sow them in a slightly heated ground, while not overdoing it with density. It is much easier to devote a little more time to sowing, evenly distributing the seeds, than to then learn how to thin out carrots. Of course, placing the seeds too far apart is also not worth it; no one guarantees that they all sprout.
It is necessary to sow carrots in rows, between which should be about 15 cm - this distance will allow the vegetable to grow normally, and you will have the opportunity to take care of the seedlings. When the first sprouts appear, it's time to figure out how to thin out the carrots. This must be done as early as possible. With the late removal of excess seedlings, holes are formed in which the larvae of carrot flies can lay. In addition, late thinned root crops grow much worse - they initially did not have enough space for full development.
So, if in your garden the first leaves of carrots rose to a height of 1-2 cm, then it's time to start the process of removing excess vegetables. At this stage, you should have 1 plant for every 1-2 cm. It is not advisable to leave a larger number of sprouts - because of this, your crop can only worsen. Knowing only in theory how to thin out carrots, you might think that this is completely uncomplicated. But if you have a lot of beds, and you placed the seeds too tightly, then you have to spend a sufficiently long time in a bent state, pulling out excess plants.

But this is only the first stage of work aimed at increasing productivity. When you can count 5 leaves on carrots, it's time to proceed to the next thinning. Now it is necessary that each plant has at least 3 cm on each side. And if you have large conical fruits planted, you can even leave 5-6 cm between them. Do not worry that you do not know how to thin out carrots. If you mercilessly remove all unnecessary root crops, then lay the foundation for a good harvest.
When your vegetables grow up and can be eaten, thinning will continue. Throughout the summer, you will pull out large carrots, which interferes with the growth of smaller plants. And only in the fall will it be possible to collect the resulting crop of bright and juicy root crops.
But remember, it is not enough to know how to thin out carrots, and do it in a timely manner. You will not get a good crop if you do not pay attention to watering, weeding weeds, loosening the soil. It is also good to fertilize the soil with young plants - this will stimulate their growth and maturation of root crops. Only a set of measures can achieve excellent results and get an excellent crop of large and tasty carrots.
