Russian soccer player Roland Gusev

Rolan Gusev is a former Russian footballer who has played for leading Russian and Ukrainian clubs. This year he will be forty years old, but he ended his career quite a while ago - in 2011. When Rolan Gusev was still playing, he played in the position of the right midfielder.

Carier start

Rolan Gusev was born on September 17, 1977 in the city of Ashgabat, in the Turkmen SSR, where he began to play football. However, already in 1986, the Roland family moved to Moscow, where he was able to enter the football academy of the local Dynamo. It was there that he began to engage in football at a professional level, and in 1995 signed a full-fledged contract with the club. The player was very talented, so he began to play for the main team at the age of seventeen. In the first season, he spent 16 matches, but has not yet claimed a place in the starting lineup. In 1998, he marked the first goal for his native club, and by 1999 he became a base player. It was then that Gusev’s heyday as a football player of the highest level began. He spent three seasons as a key player in Dynamo, playing a total of 127 matches and scoring 22 goals. However, with the current club, Rolan Gusev was able to reach only third place in the Russian championship, and his potential was much more impressive. That is why the inevitable happened in 2002 - Gusev moved from Dynamo to CSKA. CSKA paid for the midfielder three million euros, which at that time was an impressive amount, especially for the Russian championship.

The game at CSKA

Roland Gusev

Rolan Gusev is a footballer who turned out to be one of the best in Russia at the time. And it was in CSKA that he was able to reach the peak of his career. In the first season, he flashed, having accumulated fifteen goals in thirty matches. In total, he spent six seasons at CSKA, having entered the field 143 times and scoring 33 goals. Together with the army team he became the champion of Russia three times, won the Russian Cup four times, and in 2005 CSKA even won the UEFA Cup, the second most important trophy in European football. However, just at that moment, the player’s career began to decline - he began to receive less and less playing practice at CSKA, so in the winter of 2008, for 750 thousand euros, he moved to Dnipro, moving to Ukraine.

Ukrainian period

The 31-year-old Gusev was no longer the star player he was at the very beginning of his appearances for CSKA, so he couldn’t even cling to the base at Dnipro - for the whole year he spent only eleven matches. As a result, the next year he was sent on loan to Kiev Arsenal, where he played eight matches. Then his lease was extended for another season, and he added 17 matches to his account and the first goal in Ukraine. When Gusev returned to Dnipro, his contract was not renewed, so he was able to fully join Arsenal, for which he played another season, entered the field 23 times, scored two goals, and in the summer of 2011 announced completion careers.
