Surely every person many times in his life came across the word "paramedic". Who is he and what does he do? Paramedic is an employee of a medical institution with secondary education. He carries out first aid measures and carries out sanitary and anti-epidemic, as well as preventive activities.
Paramedic Education
Paramedics are trained by medical colleges, in which students who come after the ninth grade study for three and a half years, and those who finish eleven are twelve months less. What can you become by graduating from one of these institutions? Students leave from there with diplomas of ordinary, as well as medical paramedics. But that is not all. There are also paramedics. Where can I get a paramedic?

2. At obstetric and feldsher points at industrial organizations, at health centers. Here he works independently. In addition, paramedics can be found in departments and emergency stations (entire teams are formed there). In these cases, they are led by doctors of district (district) medical institutions, clinics, and outpatient clinics. They control their work.
And what does the sanitary paramedic do? Who is that? This is a health worker who is an assistant to a sanitary doctor, parasitologist or epidemiologist. There is nothing complicated, you can remember.
Responsibilities
The paramedic is authorized to perform the following medical actions, adhering to all the rules of antiseptics and asepsis:
- the imposition of ligatures, as well as skin sutures (if the patient is injured and bleeds);
- autopsy phlegmon and abscesses;
- pulling out small foreign bodies when there is no need to resort to complex tricks.
What else can an employee with secondary education do? He can take blood from a vein for laboratory tests, determine which group it belongs to, test for compatibility when transfusion is needed. All these actions are performed by a medical assistant. Who this is is known to every person who has contacted a medical institution at least once.
Also, the paramedic has the right to give injections (in the muscle, vein and subcutaneous); impose all kinds of tires (medical and transport) and a tourniquet that stops the blood. This specialist has many responsibilities. He also needs to apply and remove dressings (gypsum, as well as soft) and staples. In addition, the paramedic must be able, if necessary, to do artificial respiration and indirect heart massage (through the chest wall); remove a tooth if the case is simple enough; flush the bladder and insert a catheter; anesthetize with novocaine or chloroethyl anesthesia. He also puts compresses, mustard plasters, banks. And what does the obstetrician-midwife do? Who is it? This is a specialist who has the right to take birth. From the name, everything is clear.
And a little more about the responsibilities
Each paramedic should be able to make wraps (for example, mustard, wet, etc.), rinse the stomach, use a tonometer. Also, these specialists put
enemas (siphon, medication, cleansing, drip, nutritious). They take the contents of the stomach with probes of various thicknesses, insert tubes for the removal of gases. Unpleasantly, but nothing can be done, you have to do it all. Paramedics also take swabs from the rectum, nose, throat for subsequent laboratory tests. As you can see, these specialists do a lot, and only one thing is strictly forbidden to them - the operation. No paramedic can do this. Who is this, you already know. They can help with diseases of the ear, nose, eyes and throat (they lubricate, remove foreign objects located in the visibility zone, rinse, bury, dress up). They provide ambulance in case of any incidents (injuries, drowning, poisoning, asphyxiation, etc.).
What else should a paramedic be able to do?
These specialists should know how certain procedures are carried out from the field of physiotherapy (exposure to ultraviolet light, a Sollux lamp, UHF therapy, treatment with ozokerite and paraffin). But this is not the whole list of their responsibilities. They need to know how to use the Minin lamp, conduct physiotherapy exercises, massage, perform simple manipulations with blood (determine the level of hemoglobin and ESR) and urine (find out the specific gravity, find out if protein is present, and if so, what is its content). Many must have heard the phrase "paramedic assistant." Who is that? This is a person conducting laboratory tests.
Some people with a similar specialty work in hospital canteens. Their responsibilities include creating a menu that includes useful products that contribute to the speedy recovery of patients.
