Jaba Kankava was born in Tbilisi, in 1986, on March 18. This is a Georgian soccer player playing as a midfielder, and at the moment he defends the colors of the French club Reims.
early years
Jaba Kankava is a pupil of the football school of the Dynamo club (Tbilisi). He drew attention to himself as a promising footballer in 2004. It was then that his native team managed to break into the group stage of a serious tournament - the UEFA Cup. And the young man himself played an important role in this. After all, it was his goal sent to the goal of “Slavia” (Czech Republic) that became a pass to the UEFA Cup.
After that, Alain Giresse, who at that time was the head coach of the Georgian national team, invited the young midfielder to the team. The debut of Jaba Kankava took place in September - he was released on the field in the qualifying match of the World Championship. Then Georgia played against Albania. And the match ended in favor of Georgia with a score of 2: 0.
Further career
In 2005, in February, Jaba Kankava became a player in “Alania”. A little later he was invited to his Kiev “Arsenal”. In the Ukrainian championship, his debut took place in 2006 on March 5th. The first match ended in a goalless draw. But even in this FC, the player did not stay long and moved to Dnipro. His first goal for this team, by the way, he scored for his former club - “Arsenal”.
After that, he also played a year at FC Krivbass as a rented football player. Spent 38 matches and even scored two goals. And in 2015, he was invited by the French Reims. The Georgian footballer signed a contract with the “3 + 1” scheme with this team. From 2015 to today, the midfielder has played 27 matches, but has not yet scored a single goal.
Of the achievements, it should be noted that in the 2004/05 season, Jaba Kankava became the champion of Georgia, and a year earlier, together with his team, he won bronze at the Championship of the country. With FC Dnipro he became the finalist of the UEFA Europa League - the most important achievement. And one more time he took bronze and silver at the championship of Ukraine.
The case of Oleg Gusev
On March 30, 2014, a situation occurred due to which Kankawa became even more popular and respected. It was a match held as part of the Ukrainian championship, Dnipro played against Dynamo. During the game, the captain of Kiev, Oleg Gusev, faced Denis Boyko, the goalkeeper of the opponents. Due to this collision, he fell, hit hard, lost consciousness and swallowed his tongue. It was the Georgian midfielder who was the first to orient — he provided the necessary assistance, thanks to which his companion’s breathing was restored. Thus, Jaba Kankava saved the life of Oleg Gusev. He was even awarded the Badge of Honor of the State Service of Ukraine for this.
Jaba himself believes that he did nothing unusual - he did as he should. But the doctor of the Dnepropetrovsk hospital in his interview assured that this first aid really was the salvation for the captain of Kiev. If the footballer rushed to save later, then perhaps the consequences would not have been prevented.
