All special purpose buildings (warehouses, storage facilities, workshops) are divided into certain categories of premises, based on some fire safety features.
What do you pay attention to when determining the fire safety category?
There are certain points that must be considered when determining the category of premises for fire safety:
1. The area of ββthe building or premises.
2. The presence of fire hazardous items, their quantity and location.
3. The materials from which the main coatings (floor and walls) are made, as well as other interior items.
4. The emergency safety system (its presence or absence, as well as serviceability).
5. Description and characteristics of all stages of the technological process occurring in the building.
6. The height of the walls of the room.
Main categories
So what are the categories of premises? There are five of them, they are indicated by the letters of the Russian alphabet from A to D. A is the increased danger of explosion and fire, B is the average danger of fire and explosion, C is the average risk of fire, D is the moderate danger of fire, and D is the reduced fire hazard. Now in more detail about this and about which rooms are assigned one degree or another.
Category A. It is assigned to rooms in which x
Liquids, gases or materials that may ignite or even explode under certain conditions (at air temperatures below 28 degrees) are wounded or circulated in the process.
Category of premises B. This category includes buildings in which special materials are stored or used (dust, powders, liquids, gases, objects), which can explode or ignite at air temperatures above 28 degrees. Such conditions usually take place, for example, in hot shops.
Categories of premises B1, B2, B3 and B4. In assigning one degree or another, an important role is played by certain factors and conditions. So, the area of ββthe building and the features of its layout are taken into account. In addition, stored materials are studied: their quantity, as well as types. It is important to characterize certain technological processes: their conditions, temperatures, stages. The nature, as well as the amount of fire load (fire hazardous objects), their specific properties under the influence of certain environmental conditions, are estimated.
Category D (mind
Grade fire hazard) is assigned to buildings in which materials are stored or circulated in technological processes that have high temperatures or produce gases and sparks under certain conditions (for example, during melting of metals or during welding).
The category of premises D includes buildings in which storage and circulation of materials and objects having low temperatures and normal fire hazard characteristics takes place. The risk of fire in such buildings is minimal.
Conclusion
In conclusion, we can write that one or another category of fire hazard is assigned only by the fire inspector after a detailed inspection and study of the building.
