"Terminator" is a landmark work in world cinema science fiction

At present, it is difficult to believe that the franchise’s first film about the uprising of cars, which was originally cult, was known in the USSR under the name “Cyborg Killer”, despite the fact that the Russian analogue of the Latin term “terminator” is “liquidator”. However, with this word, movie fans have slightly different associations. After 1984, Arnold Schwarzenegger, who starred in the fantastic action game Terminator (IMDb: 8.00), was forever associated with cyborg fans.

Groundbreaking masterpiece

James Cameron announced himself three years before the creation of the first tape - in an attempt to fix the future post-apocalyptic future in “Escape from New York” by D. Carpenter, however, he realized his remarkable talent as a director of special effects. The film, which brought world fame to the filmmaker, as a director and co-author of the script, was “Terminator”. This is truly a landmark picture in world cinema science fiction and is still considered an excellent example of intense inexorably developing action that does not let the viewer go even for a moment.

Cameron subtly felt and competently withstood the lightning-fast rhythm and pace of action, showed an extraordinary imagination, striking with unpredictable plot twists. Now “Terminator” is a cult project that marked the rapid ascent of the robot-like Arnold Schwarzenegger to the Hollywood Olympus. By the way, for the entire timing of the tape, his character pronounces only 16 capacious, but short replicas, the most famous of which is the winged “I'll be back”. The huge success, including financial, of the project contributed to the release after 7 years of the second episode, also directed by D. Cameron, the film Terminator 2: Judgment Day (IMDb: 8.50).

History at the core

In the original film, the story unfolds around the personality of Kyle Reese, who came from the future, to confront the humanoid killer robot also sent from Los Angeles in 2029 to 1984. By all means, the cyborg must kill the young beauty Sarah Connor, on whom the future of mankind depends. Kyle must protect her and more ...

The successful and intelligent sequel “Terminator 2” continues the story of a ruthless cyborg killer from the future, which reappears in the present. Now, the goal of the mechanical killer is not only Sarah, but her teenage son, twelve-year-old John Connor, who then should lead the Resistance and become the main enemy of the rebellious machines.

Sequel

In the second part of the epic, Cameron decided not to stop there and prepared an intriguing surprise for the viewers regarding the modifications of the cyborg. In the sequel, two robots are involved - the character of Arnold Schwarzenegger, who was featured in the first film, knowingly promised to return, and the T-1000. If the T-800 was a humanoid android with a metal frame, then the T-1000 is a terminator that compares favorably with its ability to change shape. The work of the director is able to impress with its special effects even now. It seems that Cameron creates his masterpieces for centuries, because they do not become obsolete either by visualization or by semantic load.

“Doomsday” gave all moviegoers a cyborg that takes any form and appearance, can turn into steel and easily spread on the floor. But his cult status was entrenched in the appearance of the guardian of law and order with the face of the charismatic Robert Patrick.

The third part

“Rise of the Machines” (IMDb: 6.400) was no longer shot by Cameron, the director's chair was taken by Jonathan Mostow. According to critics, "Terminator 3" is the most stupid in the franchise. The only pleasure from viewing the picture is the presence in the frame of the model Kristanna Loken, who played the role of an even more advanced cyborg, again sent to the past to restore order. In the artist’s creative career, this picture remained the highest grossing, expensive and popular, and the movie is remembered thanks to her sexy along with a stern look.
