At the insistence of Stalin, the scriptwriter changed the denouement of all known history. So, in the film of Ivanovsky, Dubrovsky died. So did the hero of the literary source. But, given the fact that in the modern interpretation Dubrovsky is a successful lawyer, such actions may seem implausible.
The main character enters the house of Troekurov. But not under the guise of a French tutor, but as a lawyer. A warm relationship is formed between Vladimir and Masha, turning into a love affair. Aides Dubrovsky, meanwhile, riot in the vicinity of the possessions of Troekurov. In the end, he explains to Masha, admits that he is not Deforge at all and disappears. According to the reviews of the audience, this film adaptation of the immortal work of Pushkin is not successful. But the script is well-written dialogue, and, despite the tragic plot, there is a slight humor.
