Chernorechenskoe reservoir - a large body of water with fresh water. It is the largest in the Crimea, and it is located in the city of Sevastopol. In addition, it feeds the entire water supply of this city.

General information

The average depth of the pond is approximately 10.5 meters. At some points, the depth reaches almost 32 meters. The size of the reservoir is also impressive: 3.5 kilometers in length and the same in width. The total amount of water is 64 million m³. The coastline is 61 kilometers long.

The water in the store comes from rains, from the springs of the Chernaya River, as well as from melting snow. The source of the Chernaya River is the Skelsky spring, which is located near the village of Rodnikovoye.

In 2014, it became noticeable that the pond began to fade. This could not be allowed, since it threatened a catastrophe for the whole of Sevastopol. To avoid problems with water supply, specialists had to drill additional wells so that water supplies could be replenished.

Neighborhood

The Chernorechenskoe reservoir is located in the Crimea, 18 kilometers from the famous Foros village. The reservoir is located in the area called Crimean Switzerland. Around the lake are mountain peaks and a forest.

In 1944, the Baidar Reserve was founded on the territory of the reservoir. Therefore, the waters of the Chernaya River are protected and not exposed to pollution. The territory of the reserve is famous for its rich flora and fauna. Different animals live there: deer, foxes, hares, wild boars, eagles, roe deer and many other animals. The richness of plants is also striking: juniper, beech, hornbeam, yew, hazel, dogwood and many others.

The dam, built in 1956, was the first dam, thanks to which 33 million m³ of river water was collected. The water from the storehouse was used not only for the drain in Sevastopol, but also for the Chernorechensk irrigation system, which is used to irrigate the crop.

Rest on a reservoir

I would like to say right away that it is strictly forbidden to swim in the Chernorechensky reservoir, since the reservoir contains drinking water intended for consumption by residents of Sevastopol. The shores near the lake are fenced so that tourists do not have a desire to break the rule.

In addition to contemplating the beauties of the surroundings, horseback riding is organized around the reservoir. There are stables in the nearby villages of Kolkhoznoye and Peredovoye.

In the village of Rodnikovoye, located near the Chernorechensky reservoir, the settlement of the first people is located. Stone blocks, menhirs in which Cro-Magnons lived, are open for tourists to visit.

Biking tours are organized in the Baidar Valley , during which you can admire the Crimean beauties.

In addition, within a radius of five kilometers from the Chernorechensky reservoir there are several more attractions:

  • Uzungeji Canyon. This place is famous for its beauties. On the territory of the canyon are Dry Waterfall, Dead Gorge and the source of the Kanly-Gol River. For lovers of swimming in the cool mountain rivers, this is the best place.
  • Kaydar Gate. Monument of history.
  • Damn staircase. A winding climb in the form of a staircase 250 meters long, the angle of inclination is 20 degrees.
  • Waterfall Visor. It is named because of the visor pointing up at the top of the waterfall. The height of the falling water is 14 meters. This place does not yet have fame, although it is one of the most beautiful places in the Crimea.

Fishing on the Chernorechensky reservoir in Sevastopol

Many tourists wonder if it is allowed to fish in this pond. Previously, it was strictly forbidden to engage in fishing, as the reservoir was a protected facility. However, from September 26, 2016, a law was passed on the authorization of amateur fishing on the Chernorechensky reservoir and in the waters of the Chernaya River.

They also gave permission to breed mussels in the pond. Mussels are an excellent natural filter for water. One unit of mussels from the Black Sea passes through three liters of water per hour. The law approved the establishment of a mussel farm. This will allow not only to receive a product for sale, but also to purify drinking water.

In the Chernorechensky reservoir, you can catch crucian carp, grass carp, bream, silver carp, carp and zander. Crayfish are also found.

How to get there

The Chernorechensky reservoir can be reached on a direct route from Foros or Balaklava, going to the village of Ozernoye or Rodnikovskoye. A pond is located between these villages. From the stop of transport on foot you can walk to the reservoir. You can arrange fishing, cycling or horse riding on the same day on the spot.

The decision to relax on the Chernorechensky reservoir is a great way to combine outdoor activities in the beautiful Crimean surroundings, and fishing will help you relax and enjoy the soft rays of the sun. In addition, fishing will provide an opportunity to go home with a catch and enjoy delicious fish in the evening. The best time for a big catch is early in the morning when the fish goes out to look for food.
