Michael Myers - Lived, Alive and Will Live!

The year 1978 was marked by the release of John Carpenter's epoch-making Halloween movie into the world box office. From that moment, a new wave of increased interest in horror should be counted. Moreover, the director with his brainchild launched a series of horror films based on round or holiday dates, for example, “Friday the 13th”, “April Fool's Day”, and “My Bloody Valentine”. But, in comparison with the listed film products, the franchise started by Carpenter, eternal life is destined, regardless of creative crises and individual failures. Michael Myers lived, lives and will live.

Chronology of events according to the filmmakers

The cult franchise includes a series of horrors: “Halloween” (1978) by John Carpenter, “Halloween 2” (1981) by Rick Rosenthal, “Halloween 3: Time of the Witches” (1983) by Tommy Lee Wallace. Also, the name of each subsequent tape included the name of the main antagonist, with a hint of what he will do in this series: “Return” (1988) from Dwight Little, “Revenge” (1989) by Dominic Otenin-Gerard, and in 1995 released "Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers" (1995) by Joe Chappel.

In 1998, the seventh part of the movie series “Halloween: 20 years later” was released. And in 2002, the inimitable maniac was brought back to life with the Resurrection tape, but the most interesting thing awaits fans of the genre in the restart of Halloween (2018). In addition to these projects, the franchise includes two interesting remakes of Halloween (2007) and Halloween 2 (2009).

Remember how it all began ...

Every fan of the horror genre perfectly remembers how the story began, and to this day exciting movie community. One of the most extraordinary psychopaths, Michael Myers, due to a fortunate set of circumstances, escapes from a specialized hospital where he has been under the close supervision of staff and especially Dr. Sam Loomis for the past fifteen years. His face is hidden behind a mask, which is natural on the eve of Halloween. He commits a series of bloody killings for reasons that even now cause heated debate and discussion. According to the majority, in the films Michael Myers appears as the personification of “pure Evil”; he is incited to infliction with an obsession with the spirit of Samhain. However, opponents of the conventional belief are inclined to attribute his craving for killings to avenge mental trauma received at an vulnerable age of six. It was then that the child witnessed the elder sister's carnal joys with her boyfriend and finished off her lovers using a huge kitchen knife.

Mask

All the photos of Michael Myers are united by one invariable detail - this is his mask. One of the cult heroes of the slasher series is distinguished not only by amazing cruelty and a huge number of victims, but also by an ominous image. Not all fans of the terrible franchise know the true origin of the lining that hides the face of the killer.

It turns out that during the filming process of the first series, actor Nick Castle wore a comic mask of his Canadian colleague William Shatner. It began when Tommy Lee Wallace, a costume designer, didn’t acquire Captain Kirk’s “head” while visiting a specialty store to celebrate All Saints Night. Then the professionals took up the job - Wallace increased the cutouts for the eyes, gave the face skin a bluish-gray tint, made some scars and cuts with make-up. As a result of his efforts, Michael Myers acquired a distinguishing mark, which director John Carpenter was very pleased with.

At least nontrivial

The leading villain of the Halloween franchise dealt most of the victims with a table knife, but, as it turned out, didn’t get away with any auxiliary means. In the seventh episode, the hero of Joseph Gordon-Levitt, a teenage hockey player, was put to death by an unusual method for Myers. Nurse Marion discovered the unfortunate person with a face cut by hockey skates.

In general, the seventh part presented the audience with a lot of surprises, as the creators initially positioned it as the end of the epic. Lori Stode, 20 years after her confrontation with Michael Myers, was supposed to reassure him forever, cutting off his head. The authors specifically invited the leading role of the unfading Curtis, who became famous after the triumph of the original "Halloween". But after the project hit the big jackpot at the box office, 5 years later the sequel “Halloween: Resurrection” was presented to the public. In the film, it turned out that Lori, having become aware, ruined an innocent man. In addition, at the very beginning of the tape, Michael Myers killed the heroine, reducing her entire triumph in the last series to nothing. It’s hard to come up with a more offensive turn of events for fans of the heroine.

40 years after the premiere

In 2018, Michael Myers is doing great. At the end of the year, a new epic series will be released, the second reboot in the last twenty years should be very entertaining. Jamie Lee Curtis is once again returning to the cult role, is produced by horror Jason Bloom, and is pooled over by the staging of D.G. Green and D. McBride.

According to the announcement, the plot of the new tape will ignore the events of all released sequels and remakes, continuing the narrative of the original 1978 film. On the eve of All Saints Day, the famous masked serial killer of the newly returned mask awaits the final confrontation with the elderly Lori Strode. Although, even the possible commercial failure of the new "Halloween" will not be able to put an end to the adventures of Michael Myers.
