Krill is called small (up to 6.5 cm) crustaceans. In grocery stores you can buy their meat fresh, canned or frozen. It is used as an independent product and added to various dishes (salads, sandwiches, soups, all kinds of snacks) as an ingredient.

It has been proven that one of the most environmentally friendly products is krill. What it is, you already know. But what useful substances does this product have? First of all, it is potassium, sodium, calcium, iron and iodine. It is worth noting that during their life activity these crustaceans do not accumulate harmful substances in themselves, despite the fact that they feed on carrion. They are a source of protein, carbohydrates, amino acids and many vitamins.

Often, nutritionists prescribe krill meat to their patients during treatment. And this is not surprising. Indeed, despite its low-calorie content, it is nutritious, you can quickly get enough of it.

Krill is especially advisable to eat for those who suffer from diabetes, tuberculosis, obesity and some other diseases.

What to cook with krill

There are a large number of recipes, the main ingredient of which is sea krill. From this product you can cook the first dishes (soups, all kinds of chowder and even borscht), the second dishes (salads, fish and vegetable and fish mixes), snacks (tartlets, sandwiches).

The most common dish in which krill is the main ingredient is a festive salad. Today we will consider how to cook it.

This krill salad does not contain sophisticated ingredients and does not require a lot of cooking time. In addition, everyone can make this dish, even a child.

So, for its preparation the following products are needed:

  • 200-250 g of krill meat;
  • some boiled eggs;
  • pickled or fresh cucumbers (2-3 pcs.);
  • 1 small can of canned corn;
  • greens;
  • lemon juice;
  • mayonnaise;
  • salt to taste.

Canned krill meat must be cut into small pieces. Peel the eggs and crumble with a knife. Take the cucumbers and grate them, squeeze (in case you use pickled or pickled cucumbers). Greens also need to be finely chopped.

This salad must be formed in layers. Place krill meat at the bottom of the salad bowl, then lay eggs, corn, cucumbers and greens. Each layer must be lubricated with large quantities of mayonnaise. As spices, use salt and pepper to taste. Also, each layer can be slightly sprinkled with lemon juice.

Cheese baskets with krill meat

We have already said that krill is ideal for all kinds of snacks. The most popular type are cheese baskets with krill meat, which are prepared as follows.

Take any hard cheese (grams 50-70), grate it and mix with 1 teaspoon of flour. After this, put 1 large spoon in a preheated pan. When the cheese melts a little, remove the resulting pancake with a spatula and stick around the bottom of the glass.

Sea krill

When the cheese has cooled, turn over the glass and remove the pancake from it. As a result, you should get a basket. Thus, prepare the baskets until the cheese runs out.

Use chopped krill meat as the filling. Start the baskets and serve.
