Staphylococcus aureus in children up to a year

Bacteria are a constant companion of man, they are everywhere - in food, on daily household items, clothes, in the air, water and on the ground. One of the large and dangerous groups is cocci, microorganisms that look like a ball. The most insidious and common bacterium is Staphylococcus aureus, which received this name due to its yellow color. The main place of distribution is the skin and mucous membranes.

An adult with a formed immune system is often a carrier of a bacterium that does no harm to its "host". At the same time, Staphylococcus aureus in newborns can become a real threat. The fact is that he β€œhits” the weakest places, causing complex diseases that often lead to complications, and is also difficult to heal. The reason is that the infection does not leave immunity. Therefore, it is likely that the person who has had this disease once will get it again the next time.

Staphylococcus aureus most actively infects newborns and children of the first year of life due to a very weak immune system, and also because babies drag various objects into their mouths that a whole colony can β€œsit” on. Moreover, already 99% of newborns from the hospital are discharged with this microbe on the skin, which simply β€œwaits” for a convenient moment to infect the baby. Therefore, parents need to try to see signs of its presence until there are no symptoms of the disease.

Staphylococcus aureus always leaves traces. The most common manifestation of his presence in a newborn is the presence of skin diseases and frequent SARS. As a result, sooner or later the baby gets a complication and gets pneumonia, meningitis, osteomyelitis or endocarditis.

Getting rid of this bacterium is a complex and lengthy process, since Staphylococcus aureus mutated well, finding mechanisms of adaptation to antibiotics, especially to the penicillin series. He is not afraid of hydrogen peroxide, nor alcohol, nor the sun, nor drying out, nor boiling for about ten minutes. Moreover, the incubation period can be very fast - from several hours to five days.

In the event that there is at least one of the following symptoms in a newborn: a temperature of about 39 degrees, vomiting, intoxication, redness of the skin, its passage, urgent hospitalization is needed. In no case should you resort to self-medication of a small child, the control of a professional is mandatory.

The pharmacological effect can be supplemented by "expelling" Staphylococcus aureus. Folk remedies can help in this process. The main methods used for a child up to a year may be the following.

The first is the use of chamomile broth for washing the nose and eyes every 2 hours. Prepare it in a water bath from a large spoon of grass and a glass of water. The mixture was brought to a boil and insisted for 45 minutes.

The second method is the lubrication of skin rashes with an infusion of a series. A large spoonful of grass is poured with a glass of boiling water, closed and left to infuse for an hour.

The third way is to take a small spoonful of a weak broth of wild rose three times a day. To prepare it, you need to cook a regular fruit compote, adding a little sugar and lemon juice.

But the best way is to prevent the "spread" of bacteria. Therefore, the prevention of its appearance comes first. The main condition is compliance with basic hygiene procedures and rules, this applies to both the child and the mother.

Mandatory for the prevention of Staphylococcus aureus is to increase the immunity of the baby. The best way to achieve this is breast milk, which contains immunoglobulin. Thanks to him, all the mucous surfaces of the child will be protected.
