Polyps in the gallbladder: timely detection - the path to a speedy recovery

If we are talking about polyps, then this phenomenon is associated with benign formations on the mucous membrane. Such neoplasms can progress in any organ that has a mucous membrane, so this pathology is especially appropriate for the stomach, intestines, uterus, and bladder. Let us dwell in more detail on such a pathological process as polyps in the gallbladder.

Judging by the causes of such an anomaly, they have not yet been fully identified, however, most scientists are clearly convinced that such growths are associated with genetic changes, hormonal imbalance, as well as the dominance of viral carriers.

In medicine, there are several types of such "tumors" in the gallbladder, each of them has a specific clinical picture with characteristic symptoms. So, a cholesterol polyp characterizes the growth of the mucous membrane with cholesterol stagnation, inflammatory diagnoses the consequence of the inflammatory reaction of the mucosa, adenonoma β€œsprouts” directly from the glandular tissue, and papilloma is a nipple tumor on the mucosa.

In their life activity, polyps in the gallbladder are not health-threatening, the threat is observed only when they mutate, that is, they are able to develop into malignant tumors with fatal health consequences. When should a potential patient have reasons for excitement? Often, the patient does not have suspicions of the disease "polyps in the gallbladder," the symptoms of which are mostly "sleeping" in nature, that is, a complete absence of characteristic complaints. Although sometimes polyps in the gallbladder are accompanied by tangible discomfort in the upper abdomen, which is associated with abnormal liver function, which can negatively tolerate certain foods. However, it should be rightly noted that the absence of symptoms is directly related to the degree of neglect and the nature of the disease, since alarm signals are noticed already at later stages of the pathology.

To determine the presence of pathology, as well as give it a detailed description, can only a specialist on a preliminary ultrasound of a sick organ. But if the diagnosis of polyps in the gallbladder is nevertheless diagnosed, treatment should be immediate. It is important to clarify here that these kind of "nodes" require exclusively surgical intervention and systematic observation; another method for their elimination does not yet exist. Growing neoplasms must be removed immediately, as they can mutate into malignant neoplasms. One way or another, polyps in the gallbladder require constant monitoring by a specialist and detailed diagnosis, since when they reach a size of more than 10 mm, they should be removed, and then ultrasound monitoring of the gallbladder should be continued.

Today, the operation to remove progressive polyps is not life threatening, although the right approach is important here. On the one hand, it is possible, by removing the pathogenic focus, to preserve all the natural functions of the gallbladder. However, such surgical intervention (endoscopic polypectomy) has not yet been fully studied by modern medicine, therefore, this method must be used with increased vigilance. On the other hand, most often doctors prefer to remove the gallbladder with all its neoplasms (laparoscopic cholecystectomy).

Summing up, we can say that such a pathology is not life threatening and does not cause significant harm to the patient’s health only if it is timely detected and productive treatment, in other cases, such an anomaly is fraught with fatal consequences.
