At the age of six, Arkady and his younger brother Nikita remained in the care of his mother, because his father went to another woman - Marina Vlady. Although Vladimir Vysotsky tried to see the children, there was no closeness between them, besides this, the children had an insult to his father's new wife.
Mother Lyudmila Abramova was an Orthodox woman and observed all the rules of religion, for this reason Arkady also became a believer.

Arkady studied at school with a physical and mathematical bias, was interested in astronomy, the boy was indifferent to the theater from childhood and did not share the interests of his parents. For him, the desire to write scripts came as a complete surprise.
However, the talent takes its toll, and after school, having worked for several years in the mines, Arkady entered the VGIK, studied at the faculty of scriptwriters along with Roman Kachanov and Renata Litvinova.
After graduation, Arkady had to work as a taxi driver, since people with his diploma were not in demand, and it was almost impossible to find a job in their specialty.
