The medication "Thioctacid", the instruction indicates, is released in two forms: a solution intended for intravenous administration and tablets. The drug is included in the clinical and pharmacological group of drugs with antioxidant properties, regulates the metabolism of lipids and carbohydrates.

The active substance of the solution is thioctate trometamol, in one ampoule - 952.3 mg. In terms of thioctic - 600 mg. The active substance of the tablets is thioctic acid.

The pharmacological effect is ensured by the metabolic properties of the drug, the biochemical mechanism of action is similar to that provided by B vitamins. Before administration, the solution of trometamol thioctate is diluted 30 minutes in a special solution of sodium chloride with a concentration of 0.9%. For the preparation of a medicinal product for infusion, 100-200 mg of sodium chloride is used. It is important when preparing the solution to protect the vessel with the drug from light. For this purpose, the bottle is wrapped in aluminum foil, while the medicine is considered suitable for use for 6 hours.

The procedure is carried out slowly, no more than 2 ml is injected into a vein in 1 minute. If it is perfused, then the time of administration of the drug should be more than 12 minutes.

Rapid administration of the drug can cause increased pressure, difficulty breathing. The general condition of the patient’s body after administration of thioctic acid worsened in 1 patient per 10,000.
