Popandopulo is not only the adjutant of the chieftain ...

In 1967, the first Soviet film-musical “Wedding in the Robin” was released. A large number of songs, dances, many colorful outfits, many funny scenes, the intrigues of the former village headman and swooping bandit formations - this is how the film shows the formation of Soviet power in a single village.

About the film

The film contains negative characters - the chieftain with his gang, positive characters - the military of the Red Army and the villagers, around which the plot is twisted. During the civil war, a gang of ataman Grizian of Tauride periodically visits one village. To capture her, the commander of the Red Army detachment persuades one young girl to arrange a fictitious wedding and at the same time tie the whole gang entirely.

Charming and attractive

Popandopulo in all its glory

The most memorable character in the film is Popandopulo - the assistant to the main villain. But despite the fact that he is in the camp of negative heroes, Popandopulo with his charm was able to charm literally everyone. To the best of sluggishness, a little dull, but he will never do any harm to himself, sincerely believes in what he says and feels "where the wind is blowing." Popandopulo is the most comic member of the gang of the ataman Grizian of Tauride. The phrases of Popandopulo instantly became winged and quickly went to the people. And even now you can periodically hear: "And someone I am so in love with you?". Or the sacramental: "Let's see if I have not deprived myself?" And even the song sung by Popandopulo is somehow awkward, like he himself, but nevertheless fell in love with the viewer.

The man who played the role of Popandopulo is actor Mikhail Grigoryevich Vodyanoy. A native of the city of Kharkov (1924). From childhood, Mikhail showed interest in music and attended drama circles all the time. Mikhail's talent helped him enter immediately into the second year of the Leningrad Theater Institute, at the acting department. After graduation, he was an actor in the Pyatigorsk Theater, and after a while he began performing in the Lviv Theater of Musical Comedy. Since 1953, Vodyanoy has been working at the Odessa Musical Comedy Theater. In 1957, he was awarded the title of Honored Artist, and seven years later, in 1964, received the title of People's Artist of Ukraine.

Movie roles

Actor Mikhail Vodyanoy

The film debut of Mikhail Vodyanoy took place in 1958. He played the role of Yushka Tug in the film "White Acacia". In this film, he embodied the image of a fraer from Odessa of the fifties. The image turned out bright and memorable.

The next role was in the adventure film "The squadron goes west." But popular fame and love came to him thanks to the film "Wedding in Robin".

But, despite the successful roles in the cinema, Mikhail Vodyanoy preferred to play in the theater, and not act in films.
