The medicine "Spazmeks" belongs to the category of drugs that reduce the tone in the smooth muscles of the urinary tract. The active substance - trospium chloride - has anticholinergic properties. The component also has some myotropic and ganglioblocking effect. The substance may not have a central effect. The highest concentration is reached after four to six hours. It is excreted in the urine mainly in an unchanged form.
Indications
The drug "Spazmeks" is prescribed for urinary incontinence, imperative urination due to neurogenic hyperreflexia / hyperactivity, idiopathic hyperreactivity in detrusor due to parkinsonism, strokes, pathologies in the spinal cord (acquired and congenital), multiple sclerosis, and spinal injuries. Indications include nocturia, enuresis (day or night), pollakiuria. The drug is prescribed for mixed forms of urinary incontinence, in the combined treatment of cystitis, complicated by imperative manifestations.
Dosage regimen
Medication "Spazmeks" (instructions for use gives such recommendations) is prescribed before meals. In the absence of other prescriptions from the doctor, recommended doses for patients from the age of fourteen are 10 mg three times or 15 mg 2-3 times a day. When appointing a daily dose of 45 mg, 30 mg is allowed in the morning and 15 in the evening. Because of neurogenic hyperactivity in the detrusor, 15–20 mg twice a day is recommended.
