Drama Theater (Barnaul) has existed since 1921. In his repertoire today, works by contemporary authors, fairy tales for children and an immortal classic, often in their own original interpretation.
About the theater
The Drama Theater (Barnaul), the photo of the hall of which is presented in this article, is the oldest and one of the largest in Western Siberia in Altai.
In 1991, the theater was named after Vasily Shukshin. Throughout the years of its existence, the collective has not changed its credo: to serve art unselfishly and to show spectacular performances with a deep meaning at a high professional level. The troupe today employs 40 actors.
The Drama Theater (Barnaul), in addition to performances, invites its viewers to visit the museum exposition, which operates constantly. As well as temporary exhibitions and tours of the temple of dramatic art.
The main hall seats 711 spectators. The experimental one is designed for 183 places.
The theater was repeatedly awarded prizes from the heads of the city and the region. In 2009, it was declared the enterprise of the year. He was awarded the Demidov Prize. He received diplomas, including the Grand Prix at theater festivals. In 2009, 2011 and 2014 he was awarded special prizes by the jury at the Golden Mask theater award.
V. Shukshin
The Drama Theater (Barnaul) has always included in its repertoire performances created based on the works of V. Shukshin. Even in the 90s, when the fashion for this author passed and almost all the troupes in the country stopped putting on performances. Life became different, and his characters became irrelevant. Barnaul drama, one of the few, remained faithful to Vasily Shukshin. The theater’s repertoire to this day includes his works. More recently, performances by V. Shukshin have again become fashionable and appeared in the repertoires of many troupes. Today on stage are the works of this author, who had never before seen the stage. And those that were popular in the Soviet era, today are almost not put.
